A historic “castle in the woods” in Colorado has hit the real estate market for $27 million after it was last purchased in 1992 for $1.4 million.
The century-old Greystone Manor and Estate was completed in 1917 and Genevieve Chandler, a prominent Denver socialite, moved in, turning the sprawling estate into the site of elite parties and formal luncheons until the 1920s.
Described as ‘remote mountain living at its best’ – the sprawling property had three owners after Chandler before being purchased in 1990 by Richard and Pamela Bard.
Known as one of Colorado’s true heritage properties, the estate features several properties including a mansion, pavilion, guesthouse, carriage house, pool house, stone cottage, and log cabin.
Richard Bard said he wanted a ‘castle in the woods’ – and the real estate agent he was working with told him he would love the Greystone Estate.

“We agreed to look at it, and as we pulled into the driveway I thought, ‘We’re going to buy this,'” Bard told the newspaper. DenverPost.
The pair lived in the Guest House on the beautiful Colorado estate for their first four years while they renovated the 12,000-square-foot Manor House.
The breathtaking mansion features six bedrooms, a study overlooking the pool, a gym and a ‘hidden security bedroom’.
The master suite has a marble jacuzzi-style bathtub and oversized shower with an adjacent dressing area and walk-in closet with skylight.
Other features of the main house on the estate include a state-of-the-art prep kitchen in addition to a main kitchen, a library, a powder room and French doors leading to an outdoor deck.

Richard said: ‘It has had many good uses for us over the years. What I love most is the peace and quiet. Get up every morning and go for a walk and hear nothing but birds and the occasional squirrel.
