Diane Buswell has revealed that she couldn’t move at the height of her battle with bulimia.

The 33-year-old Strictly Come Dancing professional appeared in Lorraine on Monday, where she spoke about the importance of movement for her mental health.

Diane, who first opened up about her eating disorder last year, confessed: “One thing I really noticed when I wasn’t well, is how much movement made me happy.” How good was that for my mental health.

“When they took that away from me because my body couldn’t produce what it wanted, it really depressed me. Movement is something I need to keep me happy.

Last year, the Australian dancer detailed how her bulimia started and how extreme it became, causing her to pass out and put her at risk of a heart attack.

Opening up on BBC1’s Freeze The Fear with Wim Hof, Diane revealed: “I worked on a cruise ship for quite some time. It’s tricky, because as a dancer they weigh you down.

“They weighed us every week and we had something called WW, which was a weight warning. In my time I had two and I weighed two kilos more than now.

“I’d eat some spinach and look at all the other girls and they’d be the same, you just wouldn’t eat.”

“I went through a point where I just didn’t eat, so I just had one drink for my lunch and one drink for my dinner.

I got very sick. I don’t have anything. If I had any food, I would get sick because I wouldn’t want it on me.’

“I love to dance but, I guess, as I became more successful, the pressures also grew.

‘That can really lead to this terrible self-doubt and the pressure of that makes you do crazy things.

“You’re constantly watching your weight, you’re thinking, ‘I need to be a certain way and I need to look a certain way.’

I definitely took body image to an unhealthy level. He had reached a point where he could go no further.

“I was passing out on the side of the stage, my body almost felt like it was starting to shut down.”

Dianne also revealed that she visited a doctor and had tests before being told her heart: “was under so much pressure” she could have a heart attack.

“I still have that little voice in the back of my head, I don’t think it will go away 100% completely, but it’s the way I treat it now that it’s so much stronger, healthier and better for me.” admitted the dancer.
