Located in a corner of the leafy campus of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru is the Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID). It is an incubator that aims to commercialize innovations with the potential to have a direct impact on society. Inside, Padmini Sampath, dressed in an orange and blue linen sari, tinkers with a gadget the size of a large smartphone.
Sampath is the co-founder and CEO of a little-known company, Green Collar Agritech Solutions. But it has developed an artificial intelligence-based crop sorting solution that can determine the percentages of key ingredients in raw material samples and ensure their quality.
