St Marys, Sydney: Boy and woman fighting for life after crashing into truck

A woman and a young boy are fighting for their lives after the car they were riding in crashed into the back of a parked truck.

Emergency services had to free the woman, in her 20s, and eight-year-old boy from the wreckage after the collision at St Marys in Sydney’s west just after 3am on Friday.

The pair were treated by paramedics at the scene in Christie Street before being taken to Westmead Hospital in critical conditions.

Police have cordoned off the crime scene and started an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area as Christie St was closed in both directions between Lee Holme Drive and Werrington Rd.

Harrowing photos of the scene showed a white hatchback being rammed into the back of the truck.

Debris was seen strewn across the road and the trunk of the car was lifted.
