Joe Jonas has officially filed for divorce from wife Sophie Turner after four years of marriage, stating in paperwork that their relationship is ‘irretrievably broken’.
The couple lived separately as the actress, 27, filmed in Britain while Joe, 34, toured America with his brothers and cared for their two daughters.
As news of their split emerged, pictures emerged of Sophie enjoying a night out in Birmingham, where she drank £6.50 cocktails and shots.
The Game Of Thrones actress beamed in the snaps, a year after she spoke about her desire to move to Britain permanently.
Now that Joe has filed for divorce and their marital home in Miami has been sold for a whopping $15 million, we look at Sophie’s life in America compared to Britain and the reasons why she might return home for good.
British countryside versus good weather
Family first: The actress, born in Northampton and raised near Leamington Spa, said she was desperate to be back with her family (pictured in 2019)
Homesick: Despite living in a multi-million dollar property in Miami, Sophie missed the English countryside and her loved ones
Sophie seemingly hinted at tensions over where the couple wanted to be permanently based in an interview Elle Last year she admitted that Joe was reluctant to move to England.
The actress, who was born in Northampton and grew up near Leamington Spa, said she was desperate to be back with her family and for their children to receive a similar education to her.
She told the publication: “I miss England so much. The people, the attitude, everything. I slowly drag my husband back.
‘I love living in America, but for my mental health I need to be with my friends and family. And also for my daughter: I would like her to have the education and school life that I was so lucky to have.
‘England would ideally be the final destination, but (Joe) can take quite a bit of convincing! My parents’ house is the epitome of the English countryside – horses, sheep, cows…’
Despite missing England, Sophie appreciated that living in Miami brought good weather and ‘cherished’ life by the waters.

Sophie and Joe attended the Met Gala last year, an event considered the world’s most prestigious and glamorous fashion event, where invitations are highly sought after.
The couple were expecting their second daughter at the time, with Sophie showing off her baby bump in a glamorous black dress.
Acting career
Glam: Sophie spent time in Britain this year filming an ITV drama based on notorious British jewel thief Joan Hannington
Three’s company: That means Joe is solo-parenting their two young daughters — even while touring with his brothers Nick and Kevin Jonas as The Jonas Brothers
Sophie has spent time in Britain this year filming an ITV drama based on notorious British jewel thief Joan Hannington.
That means Joe is raising his two young daughters solo, even while on tour with his brothers Nick and Kevin Jonas as The Jonas Brothers.
Sophie said returning to England was important for her mental health, which has affected her during her rise to fame.
The actress, who made her debut as Sansa Stark in Game Of Thrones, suffered from an eating disorder for a ‘long’ and had to have a live-in therapist.
She still goes to therapy regularly and says she still has days when she experiences stress and anxiety and turns to her family for support.
But Sophie isn’t afraid to move for roles and she moved to Atlanta in 2021 for Netflix drama The Staircase with her eldest daughter Willa, three.
The actress said she found the move “difficult” because she likes consistency, so she moved all her belongings to her Atlanta home while Joe toured from “city to city” with his brothers.
Million dollar homes
Epic: On top of his choice of the ring, the couple’s recent real estate projects have led to trouble in paradise when they listed their incredible Miami mansion for $15 million in August

The sprawling home had 10,414 square feet, six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, numerous living areas, a chef’s kitchen, a formal dining room and a game room.
They had moved from Los Angeles to Miami in September 2021 when they purchased the waterfront property for $11 million.

Joe and Sophie paid $14.1 million for the home in the exclusive Royal Oaks neighborhood of Encino.
Described as a contemporary masterpiece, the home offers 15,000 square feet of living space and sits on an acre of land.
In addition to the nine bedrooms, there are 11 bathrooms and plenty of luxurious touches.

In her interview with Elle, the Game Of Thrones star admitted that she has stocked her closet with comforts from home that she buys from the British marketplace.
She said: ‘I buy stuff from the British Marketplace. In the United States the chocolate is no good, and the chips are no good. It’s not the same. I need my Bisto gravy – all the good stuff!”
