Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, beams as she’s shown knitted figures of her and husband Prince Edward, and enjoys sampling baked goods with Dame Mary Berry, while attending the Royal Windsor Flower Show

The Duchess of Edinburgh came face to face with knitted versions of herself and her husband earlier today during an appearance at the Royal Windsor Flower Show, where she also met Dame Mary Berry and experienced gardener Alan Titchmarsh.

Sophie, 59, wore a black and green midi dress with a white floral pattern during her appearance at the event.

The royal, who was pictured smiling as she walked through the show, paired her gown with light gray wedge espadrilles.

Sophie accessorized with simple dangling earrings, which appeared to feature opal stones, as well as a dainty gold chain and matching bracelet.

Her blonde locks were pulled into a chic low bun and she opted for a natural makeup look to complete her ensemble.

Sophie was joined during her performance by gardener and presenter Alan Titchmarsh, who is honorary chairman of the event.

She was seen examining plants, at one point holding one up for the experienced gardener to smell.

The Duchess was also photographed alongside Dame Mary Berry, with whom she viewed some of the sweet treats on offer during the show.

As well as sampling some of the pastries on offer, the royal family was pictured smiling as she ate a leaf from a mushroom plant.

During her visit to the Windsor event, she was also photographed meeting, chatting and shaking hands with some of Chelsea’s retirees.

Her appearance today followed attending D-Day commemorations with her husband Prince Edward in Alrewas, Staffordshire on Thursday.

During the emotional event, Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, was seen wiping away tears as he listened to veterans speak about their experiences.

Among them was 97-year-old Alfred Booker, who was 16 when he was involved in the landing of troops on Sword Beach, according to the BBC.

The veteran recalled that it was the smoke he remembered most initially, as his battleship shelled the German defenses.

“I still see those young men being murdered left and center,” he said.

“Of course, wherever these shells landed, if they were near, they tore them to pieces, so you wouldn’t see a man lying there. They had to be stopped and we did that, we helped stop them.”

The royal couple met veterans ahead of the Royal British Legion’s memorial service at the National Memorial Arboretum to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Sophie gave a warm performance as she spoke to the veterans, stretching her arm around one of them during what appeared to be a heartfelt conversation.

Thursday’s event was designed to honor veterans for their service during the D-Day landings 80 years ago.

Sophie was effortlessly elegant in a chic white blazer with gold buttons, paired with an emerald green satin skirt with a floral pattern.

She added to the glamor with a pair of statement gold pave earrings.

Sophie effortlessly pulled back her blonde locks and kept her makeup chic and summery for the occasion.

The Duchess’s conversations with the former soldiers marked some of the lighter moments of Thursday’s commemoration in Staffordshire, with the royal family laughing with the veterans at one point.

Elsewhere, King Charles and Queen Camilla honored D-Day veterans at the British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer.
