Sir Rod Stewart, 78, has pulled the plug on the sale of his music catalog after TWO YEARS of negotiations
Sir Rod Stewart has called off the sale of his music catalog to the Hipgnosis Songs Fund after two years of negotiations.
The 78-year-old rocker revealed in a statement that the company – which already owns the music rights of Bruce Springsteen and Justin Bieber – was not the rightful claimant to his estate.
Writing: ‘This catalog represents my life’s work’.
“And after much time and due diligence, it became abundantly clear that this was not the right company to manage my song catalog, career, or legacy.”
The spiky-haired star is one of the world’s best-selling artists, having broken more than 250 million records worldwide.

Not for me: The rocker revealed in a statement that the company – which already bought the rights to music from Bruce Springsteen and Justin Bieber – was not the proper owners of his estate.
While the details of the alleged deal have not been made public, hits from his six-decade career include Maggie May, Da Ya Think I’m Sexy? and The Killing of Georgie, parts i and ii.
Hipgnosis Song Management offers investors the opportunity to earn royalties from the work of artists as diverse as Barry Manilow and Beyonce.
Justin Bieber sold his music catalog to the brand for a whopping $200 million earlier this year.
Other famous stars who have sold their songs include Paul Simon, David Guetta and Stevie Nicks.
It comes after The One Show was forced to apologize to viewers when Sir Rod swore live on air on Thursday.
Hosts Roman Kemp and Angellica Bell were joined in the studio by Sir Rod and Boy George, 61, when chaos erupted over the use of foul language.
They were all talking about touring when Sir Rod accidentally dropped a swear word, getting him in trouble with the BBC hosts.
Sir Rod dropped the expletive when asked about outfit changes on his show after it was revealed that Beyoncé has undergone nine changes on her Renaissance World Tour shows.

Revealing that he opts for four outfit changes, he said, “I change because I want to entertain.” I’ve heard critics say, “He went to rest because he was tired”.
“No, I was sweating.”
Presenter Roman, 30, was then forced to quickly cut off the singing icon and apologize to BBC viewers at home.
Roman said, “Sorry for all the foul language there. It’s a family show,” while Angellica said she warned him not to swear during the live broadcast.
