Simon Cowell is lining up a new Britain’s Got Talent kids’ spin-off show – featuring the panel’s Nepo babies as judges

Simon Cowell is preparing a new children’s spin-off show from Britain’s Got Talent, with the panel’s Nepo babies as judges.

The music mogul, 64, told MailOnline that he has considered launching a version of the ITV series in which children judge the variety acts, inspired by his 10-year-old, whose opinion he often asks when criticizing performances .

Ahead of the return of Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday, the dad-of-one said Eric has turned into his mini-me, and even rated one of the series’ acts, telling them in Simon’s former X Factor style: ‘I I’m not so sure I like the first song, but I like the second one.’

And he believes Eric’s close friendship with fellow judges Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon’s children could make for a standalone show.

He said, ‘I’ve been thinking about that. I’d actually like to know.

‘To be fair, Eric judged one act this year, I don’t know if they’re going to show it or not, and he was actually very, very good… he said, ‘Hmm, I’m I’m not sure if I like the first song, but I like the second song… and I said ‘God, that’s my boy!’

‘When we let the shows watch before they go out and when he’s around I look and when he walks past the TV I think maybe it’s not that good and every now and then he just crawls back in and he will turn his head and I’ll think, maybe this is actually better than I thought.

‘With children you can’t cheat, they like what they like and not what they don’t like… I’m not saying I make every decision based on him, but if he likes something, like all children , they think differently than us… they have no filter.’

Fellow Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has revealed that Eric and her youngest daughter Hollie, 12, are constantly up to mischief on set and have become good friends behind the scenes.

And Alesha Dixon’s daughters Azura Sienna, nine, and Anaya Safiya, four, are also part of the fun, with the judges’ offspring forming their own mini alliance.

Amanda added: ‘Our children are so close now. Hollie and Eric are two mischievous elves who constantly see each other at the weekend and get up to bad things on set, along with Alesha Dixon’s daughter.’

Amanda reminisces about the 17 years she spent on the panel and recalls the birth of her first child, Lexi, a year before she got the role.

She added: “My eldest Lexi was one when I got the job, she’s definitely grown up with it… she’s the physical embodiment of the show and how long I’ve been doing this.”

The new series of Britain’s Got Talent starts on Saturday night and this year the judges have more Golden Buzzer acts than ever before.

Simon revealed that nine special artists have been chosen to go straight to the finals after impressing with their unique show.

The change in format comes after Bruno Tonioli broke the rules last year by pressing the gold button twice, and his fellow players are now following suit.

She said: ‘Since Bruno joined the rules have gone out the window. I think there could be eight or nine in this series. This year Bruno even broke the Golden Buzzer on the first day of filming.’
