Shopper left baffled and ’embarrassed’ after her Coach bag repeatedly sets off mall security alarms

If you’ve ever consistently had the alarm go off in stores, listen up: the reason may already be in your bag.

One TikTok user was left baffled after walking in and out of stores in a mall, sounding the buzzer each time before going on to the internet to get to the bottom of the matter.

In the clip, the creator, who goes by Arely, held out her tiny Coach bag – which measures just 7.5 inches long – and explained the warning sounds that followed her as she entered and left stores.

“So every time I walk into a store and it has security sensors, my bag beeps,” she complained, adding that she bought the small bag online.

‘I have no idea why. It’s literally so small I can’t really steal anything,” she added, walking to another store to show users what she meant.

In the clip, the creator, who goes by Arely, held out her tiny messenger bag – which measures just 7.5 inches long – and explained the warning sounds that followed her as she entered and exited stores.

“So I’m not stealing, but I’m looking at this. Can someone please tell me why?’ she asked, the sensors beeping as she entered.

The video ended with the caption “embarrassing” on the screen.

In the comments, users tried to help Arely get to the bottom of her loud source of discomfort.

Many suggested looking deep into all pockets and said they had previously found security strips in their designer bags.

“There’s a little pocket inside, you have to unzip it and take out the security tag. It looks like the Coach logo with a little metal thing on the back,” one user shared.

‘My grandmother had an open pack of batteries in her bag that lasted a year. Finally, a store clerk was kind enough to search her bag and deactivate whatever it could be,” another person shared.

‘OMGGGG. MY LITTLE COACH PORTFOLIO DID THIS IN MARSHALLS WHEN I WAS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL,” another surprised user commented.

‘Some bags have built-in sensors. It is often an issue with Coach and Kate Spade bags where they are not deactivated properly. Most sensor pads can disable it,” another shared.

In one follow up videoArely said she went through the bag and pulled out the magnetic stripe that was in the bag – but the alarm still went off.

Some other Coach customers appear to have experienced similar issues, with a thread on the r/Coach Subreddit dedicated to people complaining about the annoying problem.

It seems to go back to 2014, when Coach fans complained on a website called Wallet Forum.

“Every time the store clerk says it’s Coach’s fault that they put a safety tag on,” one user explained at the time.

‘It’s strange because I’ve bought all of these from stores, including a Coach FP store, and have worn them all multiple times with no problems.

“I wonder if this is happening to anyone else and where are these tags in the bags?”

DailyMail.com has contacted Coach for comment.
