- Several GWS Giants players risk a ban and high fines
- The post-season party was held in a private room of a pub
GWS Giants AFL stars included Olympic breakdancer Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn and disgraced rap star P. Diddy in a costumed ‘Wacky Wednesday’ function, leaving some players with stiff penalties from the league, it has been reported.
Several of the club’s players are facing suspensions or hefty fines after the team and the AFL confirmed they are investigating what happened during last month’s post-season function in a private room at a pub.
The scandal emerged after an anonymous complaint was made about the “Wacky Wednesday” party about the outfits players wore during the costume events and the celebrity-themed skits they performed that night.
It has now been reported that one of the players who could be punished was dressed as Raygun, which became one of the biggest stories at the Paris Olympics.
Another star is reportedly in trouble after making a joke about Sean “Diddy” Combs, the American rap superstar who is in jail awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
According to the party, approximately six players will be suspended SEN radio journalist Tom Morris.
He reported that Giants Isaac Cumming and James Peatling are not among the players facing disciplinary action, and that the club’s stars believe the story came to light when the bartender at the pub complained, even though nothing was said to have been done illegal things have happened.
“One young player in particular, who allegedly made an ill-informed joke about P. Diddy, faces the harshest suspension,” Morris said Monday.
Disgraced rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was reportedly the butt of a joke from a GWS Giants star who is now in hot water for his actions at the club’s Wacky Wednesday party

‘A few players have done a skit from a movie, a player who will be fined, dressed as Raygun.
“I can’t imagine that player getting a fine for dressing up as Raygun, but who knows what actions that player performed.”
Morris said the club became aware of the scandal weeks ago, with some stars hearing about it the weekend before the AFL grand final.
“I’ve been told that some players are having their bans down because they think it’s a private room and nothing illegal has happened. The AFL and the Integrity Unit have had time to think about it, process it and investigate it,” he said.
“Given that around six players will be suspended and fines of up to $20,000 handed out, you’d have to suggest there’s more to it.”
The league and the Giants have confirmed they are investigating what happened at the event last month, days after their season ended with the semi-final loss to premier Brisbane.
“The AFL and GWS have initiated an investigation into the Giants players’ postseason event, which is in its final stages,” the league said in a statement.
The AFL and the Giants have not confirmed what prompted the investigation, or what action the league might take.
GWS released a statement late Tuesday saying: “The Giants are aware of an anonymous allegation of inappropriate behavior during the players’ end-of-year meeting last month.
“The club and its integrity unit have been working with the AFL’s integrity unit to investigate.”
