Shepparton, Victoria: Fatal crash at Arcadia brings traffic to a standstill on major highway
A single vehicle crash in rural Victoria has left one man dead and a major highway closed.
Emergency services rushed to the Goulburn Valley Highway near Arcadia, south of Shepparton, at around 12.50pm on Friday.
Victoria Police confirmed a male driver was killed after his car struck a tree near the Dawson Rd intersection. The circumstances leading to the crash are under investigation.
The Goulburn Valley Highway at Arcadia, south of Shepparton, was closed early on Friday afternoon, likely affecting traffic well into Friday evening.
Police said the man, who has not yet been formally identified, died at the scene.
Traffic is at a standstill on the stretch of Goulburn Valley Highway between Murchison-Violet Town Rd and Union Rd.
The area has been cordoned off as the police investigate, as traffic is expected to be disrupted until Friday evening.
