- Brewster had mocked the Owls after Sheffield United’s own promotion
Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan has told Rhian Brewster he is ‘absolutely f***ing honk’ in an x-rated blast at the Sheffield United star.
The 33-year-old made the comment while celebrating the Owls promotion following their win in the League One play-off final on Monday.
On Wednesday, he secured a dramatic 1-0 extra-time win against Barnsley, with Josh Windass scoring with a diving header deep into stoppage time.
The Owls enjoyed an open-top bus parade and a civic reception at Sheffield Town Hall this week.
Members of the side were filmed at locations around the city toasting their promotion with fans, with Bannan filmed hitting back at Sheffield United striker Brewster.

Bannan’s reaction came after Sheffield Wednesday triumphed in the League One play-offs
“Rhian Brewster you really are a bloody honking son,” said the Scottish midfielder.
Players on Wednesday then began a chant declaring, “They’re all f***ing w*****s at the Lane.”
Bannan’s comment came in response to Brewster mocking Wednesday during Sheffield United’s own promotion celebrations last month after securing their place in the Premier League next season.
Brewster led the singing at the Steel City, singing about their bitter rivals, with the 23-year-old asking fans “What do you think of Wednesday?’
That prompted a “s***” response to which Brewster continued with, “What do you think of s***?”
The Blades striker then led a chant of ‘We hate Wednesday, we hate Wednesday’ with the crowd.
Brewster has struggled since joining Sheffield United from Liverpool in October 2020 for £23.5 million, with the striker scoring five goals in 63 appearances for the club.
The 23-year-old has scored one goal in 16 Championship appearances this season before a hamstring injury suffered in October ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Bannan, who joined on Wednesday in 2015, was aiming to secure promotion to the Premier League immediately after winning the Championship play-off trophy.
“I know there are some big teams coming, but we will also be a huge club in that division.” Bannan said.
“Look at Sunderland – they got promoted last year, they went to the Championship and used the momentum to get to the play-offs at the first attempt.
“We’ll try to take a leaf out of their book.
“There are teams that have done it before (went from League One to the Prem in two years) and when you get into a winning habit it becomes normal, you don’t even think about losing.”
