Hippie Monday! Shaun Ryder left in agony after replacement joint ‘jumps out’ in I’m A Celebrity jungle while sleeping next to camp mates
I’m A Celebrity Bushtucker Trials have been known to bring tears to the eyes of the show’s contestants.
But for Happy Mondays singer Shaun Ryder, his jungle scare came when his replacement hip “popped out” while sleeping next to his campmates on the upcoming All Stars series.
The 60-year-old revealed that he refused medical attention when the incident happened on the second night of the show and Princess Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell, came to his aid instead. Ahead of the much-anticipated ITV series, which starts tomorrow, the star – who finished runner-up in 2010’s I’m A Celeb – said: ‘I was there for two nights, and boom, f****** damn my hip had come out.
“I pushed it back myself. I didn’t want to see a doctor. Paul Burrell helped me, he was a professional.’ However, Mr Ryder, who had his hip replaced in the summer of 2019, insisted on his second stint in the jungle: “I wouldn’t have traded it for anything.”
Viewers will watch the scene this week, along with other dramatic moments throughout the series, which see previous I’m A Celeb contestants return to the jungle.
Shaun Ryder has returned to the jungle of the show for a second time
However, instead of Australia, the series is pre-shot in South Africa with Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly as hosts.
On tomorrow night’s show, viewers will see Mr Ryder, Mr Burrell and Janice Dickinson take on the Tree of Torment challenge, while Carol Vorderman, Amir Khan and Jordan Banjo will walk the plank with a 50m drop to win stars for Camp and their meal of the first night.
Other celebrities taking part include Helen Flanagan, Fatima Whitbread and Phil Tufnell. Myleene Klass, Kate Garraway, Gillian McKeith, Joe Swash and Georgia Toffolo are expected to join the program later in the series.
