Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) became the second Republican lawmaker to be targeted by pranksters who sent police to their homes during the Christmas holidays.
Police responded to a call to Scott's home in Naples, Florida, around 9 p.m. on Wednesday evening, claiming a shooting had occurred on his block.
The incident involving Scott, 71, occurred two days after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) was also “beaten” on Christmas Day.
A “SWAT” call refers to when a prankster makes a fraudulent emergency call, sending police to a known person's home to respond to a fabricated emergency.
Naples police confirmed that the alleged shooting did not occur and that the call to Scott's home was a “swatting” incident that remains under investigation.
Rep. Greene also said her home was hit by these false threats while her family was inside enjoying holiday festivities — and said such calls have happened several times since she took office.
Republican Senator Rick Scott's home in Naples was 'struck' two days after Christmas when someone made a hoax call and sent police to his home under false pretenses that a shooting had occurred
'I was just beaten. This is about the 8th time. Here at Christmas with my family,” MTG wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
She added: “My local police are the BIGGEST and should not have to deal with this. I appreciate them immensely and my family and I are joyfully celebrating the birth of our savior Jesus Christ!”
The Georgian congresswoman did not elaborate on the nature of the threats, but she has previously been the target of what her office described as “political attacks.”
The 49-year-old politician was beaten twice in August this year. On August 23, Rome police said officers “responded to a 911 call reporting a person shot multiple times at an address within the city limits.”
According to the police report, the caller said a man had been shot inside the MTG home and that a woman and children could still be inside.
When the police showed up at her home, she assured them there was no problem and that the call was a swatting incident.
The police report further stated that officers “received a second call from the suspect who used a computer-generated voice stating that he/she was angry about Ms. Greene's political views on the rights of transgender youth.”
The next day, her home was again targeted by a prank caller who told police they had shot her family and threatened to kill any officers who came to the door.
MTG thanked its local police in a tweet about the incident. 'Last night I was beaten up just after 1am.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said her home has been “hit” at least “eight times” — including on Christmas Day this year, when her family was celebrating in her home when police arrived
“I cannot express enough gratitude to my local law enforcement officers here in Rome, Floyd County. More details to follow.'
Her office confirmed in a statement to DailyMail.com that a “political attack” had taken place on Greene's home.
The act of “swatting” typically involves joking at emergency responders to get law enforcement to enter someone's home.
Greene has led the Republican Party's criticism of federal law enforcement since the FBI's unannounced search of Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida on August 8, 2022.
