A top Trump campaign adviser blasted former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan after Republican Senate hopefuls said Americans should “respect the verdict” of the hush money trial.
“You just ended your campaign,” senior Trump campaign adviser Chris LaCivita wrote to X on Thursday evening.
After leaving the governor’s mansion in January, Hogan launched a surprise Senate bid in March and easily won the state’s Republican primary earlier this month.
He will face Democrat Angela Alsobrooks in the fall.
The former governor of Maryland has been critical of former President Donald Trump, which has helped him remain popular in the blue-leaning state.

Hogan told Americans: “We must reaffirm what made this nation great: the rule of law,” after Trump was found guilty Thursday of all 34 charges of falsifying corporate records
Maryland has not elected a Republican to the U.S. Senate since 1980.
“Regardless of the outcome, I urge all Americans to respect the verdict and the legal process,” Hogan wrote to X on Thursday, shortly before the verdict was announced.
“At this dangerously divisive moment in our history, all leaders – regardless of party – must not add fuel to the fire with more toxic partisanship,” the former governor continued.
“We must reaffirm what has made this nation great,” Hogan added. ‘The rule of law.’
Hogan’s comments came shortly before a Manhattan jury found Trump guilty of all 34 counts of falsifying corporate records in connection with hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
Most Republicans immediately sided with Trump in the case, suggesting that the New York trial was biased or rigged.
“Our entire country is being manipulated right now,” Trump snorted as he left the courtroom. “This was done by the Biden administration to vote to injure or hurt an opponent, a political opponent. And I just think it’s a shame.’

A number of Republicans piled in and attacked Hogan.

“If I lived in Maryland, I would not vote for Larry Hogan under any circumstances; the man has no principles, no scruples,” says conservative radio personality Mark Levin.
Sara Gonzales, a host from Blaze TV, told Hogan, “Go f*** yourself, b****.”
Hogan ignored the comment and posted photos Friday from a recent visit to a retirement home.
