Sen. Ernst blasts Biden’s ‘boondoggle gravy trains’ as he launches 2024 reelection

GOP Sen. Joni Ernst blasts President Biden on the day of his 2024 reelection announcement, warning that the Democrat is putting American taxpayers on the rails and contributing to a suffering economy with his economic policies .

“The president is on the wrong track and that’s misleading taxpayers,” Ernst told the DailyMail.com after Biden’s announcement.

Ernst, who serves as vice chair of the Senate GOP conference, introduces the “Dollar Boondoggle Act,” which an aide said would “expand transparency requirements to any taxpayer-funded project.”

It will work hand in hand with the ‘Put the Brakes on Boondoggles Act” – introduced at the last Congress – which would end the government’s “runaway” spending.

The aim of the legislation would be to account for the massive government-funded projects, including those that were greenlit in Biden’s signature $1 trillion infrastructure bill, which took effect in 2021.

“The president is on the wrong track and that is misleading taxpayers,” Ernst told DailyMail.com

Biden announced Tuesday morning that he is running for re-election in 2024 in a campaign video posted to Twitter

The Iowa senator also told DailyMail.com that she had successfully inserted language into Biden’s signature for infrastructure bills requiring the Department of Transportation to “keep track” of projects paid for by taxpayers that are $1 billion over budget. or behind schedule.

“Being a billion dollars over budget isn’t a rounding error, it’s the definition of a train wreck,” Ernst told DailyMail.com.

The president is expected to continue touting his infrastructure bill as he heads into the campaign.

That is why on the day of announcing his re-election, Ernst presents Biden with her “squeal award” for the month of April, denouncing the government’s wasteful spending that she says is harmful to Americans.

She specifically points to the California High-Speed Train project, which was expected to cost taxpayers $33 billion when completed in 2020.

However, the project is way off track for completion, which probably won’t happen for another 10 years. The result – taxpayers pay a bill of $1.8 million a day, the senator argues, and total costs have increased by more than $100 billion.

In addition, Nancy Pelosi’s subway expansion project in San Francisco has doubled to more than $9 billion in taxpayers’ money.

Ernst said Biden is “committing” $4.6 billion, including $500 million from the budget to help complete the project.

Biden officially announced his 2024 reelection campaign in a video posted to Twitter Tuesday morning.

“When I ran for president four years ago, I said we’re in a battle for the soul of America—and we still are. The question we face is whether we have more or less freedom, more rights or less in the coming years,” Biden said.

“I know what I want the answer to be. This is no time to be complacent. That’s why I’m running for re-election. I know America and I know we are good and decent people,” the president continued.

I know we are still a country that believes in fairness and respect, and treat each other with dignity. We are a nation where we offer no safe haven to hatred. We believe that everyone is equal and that everyone should have a fair chance to succeed in this country.’

Republicans are already piling on to criticize Biden’s announcement, saying he is “out of touch” with Americans.

Ronna McDaniel, chair of the Republican National Committee, told DailyMail.com that the GOP is “united” behind defeating the president in 2024.

Biden is so out of touch that after causing crisis after crisis, he thinks he deserves another four years. If voters let Biden “get the job done,” inflation will continue to rise, crime rates will rise, more fentanyl will cross our open borders, children will continue to be left behind, and American families will be worse off,” McDaniel said.

Another senator objects to Biden’s implementation of another signature bill – the Inflation Reduction Act passed in 2022.

On Monday, Sen. Joe Manchin told Fox News’ Hannity that he is unhappy with the way the administration is rolling out legislation, which he says aims to push forward a “radical climate agenda.”

Manchin also went a step further and threatened to abolish the law.

Without his vote, the legislation would never have crossed the finish line this summer.
