Secrets of the Oscars red carpet: How nominees like Emma Stone and Emily Blunt get ready for the biggest night in film from cryotherapy sessions to IV drips – with prep starting MONTHS ago

Movies’ biggest night is just around the corner, with a host of stars set to descend on the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Ahead of the glittering ceremony, the red carpet will be action-packed, where celebrities will step and repeat to ensure the cameras capture them from every angle, before revealing who they’re wearing and whether they fancy their chances of winning.

Preparations for the iconic theater began on Friday, when the red carpet was rolled out so it was ready for Hollywood’s elite.

But for the stars themselves, preparation started three months ago, with an army of experts ensuring the celebrities are in top condition for awards season.

Emma Stone is hotly tipped to win Best Actress for her role in Poor Things and has previously credited a facial treatment and cleansing drink with achieving her red carpet glow.

In 2017, Emma gave Vogue a behind-the-scenes look at her red carpet prep, revealing she started the day with an SK-II facial mask and a cold-pressed Joan’s Greens juice from Juice Served Here.

Her trainer Jason Walsh also revealed how she and other stars prepare for the big event, saying they’ll be drinking green tea as a natural diuretic, while also cutting out alcohol to reduce bloating.

Jason loves getting his clients into the best health possible by implementing strength training and adding in some more conditioning training.

Meanwhile, Carey Mulligan will stick to her tried and tested beauty method for the Oscars, where she is up for Best Actress for Maestro.

Beauty preparation starts the night before with the application of Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Night Serum before using a facial massager from Joanna Czech to allow the serum to seep into her pores.

She follows this up with a ‘fix line smoothing device’ from NuFace, which smoothes out wrinkles.

Oppenheimer’s Emily Blunt, nominated for Best Supporting Actress, also swears by facial massage and visits famous masseur, Lord Gavin McLeod Valentine, before appearing on the red carpet.

Her signature treatment is Augustinus Bader’s The Method facial, which Lord combines with his own signature rhythmic facial massage.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph, tipped to win Best Supporting Actress for The Holdovers, opts for a full-body massage on red carpet days to ‘Deliver me from all toxins and remove all bags under my eyes’.

She prepares to a soundtrack of Tibetan singing bowls to create a contemplative atmosphere before heading out for a FaceGym session, using a gua sha and microcurrent to sculpt the jawline.

Da’Vine keeps her body hydrated all the time by using an IV, which she calls a “lifesaver.”

She explained: ‘It helps you get that extra hydration boost, but also the vitamins to keep you going with this crazy schedule.’

Experts who have worked with top stars including Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock and Taylor Swift have previously revealed their red carpet secrets on This Morning.

Personal trainer Simone de la Rue, who has worked with Taylor Swift, Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway and Reese Witherspoon, explained on the show that her clients are willing to put in the effort to look their best.

She told presenter Ferne McCann that they come to her six to eight weeks before the event – or even 12 weeks, depending on how much time they have.

‘They train for an hour a day five to six days a week. It sounds like a lot, but you have to make it a priority,” the LA trainer told Ferne.

‘They do that because they get paid to look like that. We forget that, it’s part of their job description to make sure they look fantastic on the red carpet.’

Celebrities don’t just stop at workouts either; to get things started, they have been known to try cryotherapy.

Stars including Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Alba have reportedly tried the treatment, which involves stepping into a ‘cryo-sauna’ that is cooled to below freezing at -90 degrees.

Cold therapy is believed to help break down fat cells and reduce cellulite, reduce wrinkles and help reduce muscle soreness.

Expert dermatologist Dr. Harold Lancer, a firm favorite of Kim Kardashian and Beyonce, is available 24 hours a day to assist his patients in need of treatment.

He’s fully booked, but always prepared for middle-of-the-night phone calls with pimples: ‘We expect it. Whether it’s midnight, the night before or 4:30 am.

“My cell phone rings (all the time), I can never turn it off.”

Celebrity stylist Anita Patrickson, who made her name styling Emma Watson in the last three Harry Potter films. always have to be ready for all kinds of last-minute fashion mishaps.

One customer shared her dress and urgently called her on the way to the ceremony: ‘It was a really beautiful corset dress. Because it was a structured corset, none of my wire could hold…
