Screaming Jets bassist Paul Woosen dies suddenly at 56 as his ‘shattered’ bandmates pay tribute to the late rocker
Screaming Jets bassist and founder Paul Woosen has died at the age of 56.
His bandmates shared the news on their social media channels on Friday evening, saying they were “shattered” by the guitarist’s death.
“It is with broken hearts that we tell you that our beloved rock brother Paul Woseen passed away today,” they wrote in a statement.
“We are devastated by the loss of Paully, he was a shining light in all our lives,” they continued.
“Our hearts are with Paully’s family, and we ask that you respect our need for privacy at this time.”

The band from Newcastle formed in 1989 and went on to become one of the biggest Australian rock acts of the 1990s.
They are best known for their hit Better, which reached the top five of the ARIA charts in 1991.
The band was nominated for four ARIA Awards throughout their career and had three albums in the top five.
Woosen, along with frontman Dave Gleeson, were the only two remaining original members of the band.
The Screaming Jets are still touring and releasing music, and will release their ninth studio album Professional Misconduct on October 6.
They also have a series of tour dates from October through February.
The Screaming Jets formed in 1989 and became one of the biggest Australian rock acts of the 1990s.
