Sam Smith found himself trending on Twitter after a disastrous stage diving video went viral.

The singer, 31, was the talk of the town on social media after a Twitter user wrote: “Sam Smith went on stage and no one caught him” alongside a clip of a man jumping off stage and into the crowd.

The stage dive didn’t end well, the crowd dispersed so they quickly fell to the ground in a painful-looking incident.

Left in shock by the clip, users tweeted, “Sorry I have to keep using this sam smith dude jumping or like idek crowd stage diving”; “This is absolutely done with my Sam Smith stage dive.”

However, it soon transpired that fans had been tricked into believing it was the singer and that the stage invader was actually a random man dressed as a ninja turtle who threw himself into the crowd at a Vanilla Ice concert in Oregon on Saturday.

Fans of Sam were quick to defend the singer and stop false reporting by tweeting, “Despite several ACCOUNTS spreading false information. Sam Smith has not stage dived at any concert..’; “worrying how many people really thought it was Sam Smith in that stagedive clip”;

“I love @samsmith. And I defy anyone to fool Stage-Diving-Not-Sam-Smith-Guy into showing us their perfect bodies. Sam is having the time of their lives there. And get paid and worshiped for it. Be more jealous.’

“You can tell sam smith is on these people’s mind 24/7 even if sam smith so much but you all spread misinformation about them stage diving that’s literally another person in a ninja turtle suit next time use your brain’;

“From the moment I saw the “Sam Smith stage Dive” I knew it wasn’t him. Folks, Google is FREE’; “Everyone is being duped by the Sam Smith turtle fake dive. [sic]’

Understandably, some may have been fooled by the video since Sam is currently on their Gloria tour.

However, they were recently forced to cancel the rest of their UK shows due to vocal cord issues.

Fans are left in the dark after Sam suddenly canceled their concert at the AO Arena in Manchester after just a few songs.

The singer soon issued a statement insisting they couldn’t continue after noticing that “something was really wrong” with their voices.

Sam has now revealed that they could suffer permanent damage to their voices if they don’t get complete vocal rest.

The Stay With Me star is currently busy promoting their latest single Vulgar, a duet with Madonna.

Sam’s alliance with Madonna seems like a match made in heaven – or hell – depending on who’s listening, as the British hitmaker has turned some fans upside down with religious imagery.

The new song Vulgar comes nearly four months after Sam caused a “satanic” panic with their jaw-dropping performance at the February Grammys.

The Grammy-winning artist sang alongside collaborator Kim Petras and donned devil headgear in the horror film-inspired performance, infuriating conservatives like Ted Cruz with their “demonic” themes.
