Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman film first scenes for Deadpool 3

Hugh Jackman has been spotted filming his first scenes for his anticipated role in Deadpool 3 alongside Ryan Reynolds.

The New Zealand star is reprising his role as Wolverine in the upcoming sequel having last played the role in 2017’s Logan.

Filming took place on a beach in the UK on Monday as the two Hollywood hunks shot an epic fight scene in their iconic Marvel character costumes.

Hugh, 54, was back in his yellow Wolverine costume as he struggled with Ryan, 46, who was dangling from a high wire at one point.

It appears that production for the third Deadpool film has moved to the UK to allow Ryan to fulfill his commitments with his team Wrexham FC, who were promoted back to the English Football League in April.

In the third film, Deadpool will use Cable’s time travel machine to save Wolverine before his death in 2029 and they will get lost in the Multiverse.

While in the Multiverse, they are pursued by Mobius, who has access to time travel technology.

One of the main protagonists in the film is Emma Corrin of The Crown, who will play a villain in the blockbuster.

Ryan tweeted, “New addition to the family! The Deadpool family, to be clear. Which is like a real family, except with less swearing… Welcome, Emma Corrin!”

He previously confirmed the Deadpool 3 movie’s premiere date as September 6, 2024.

The day after Ryan announced last year that Hugh would return as the late Wolverine in Deadpool 3, the pair sat down for a faux fan Q&A.

‘I had a lot of questions. I’m sure you had a lot of questions. But don’t worry, we’ll answer them now,’ Hugh promised.

“For example, how is Wolverine still alive after Logan?”

Ryan clarified that Logan was set in 2029 and that it was a “totally separate thing” – hinting that it may be about the MCU multiverse.

Logan died in Logan. Don’t touch that,” Ryan said. “Basically what happens in our movie is these two fucking dudes go out and just like…”

At that point, Reynolds and Jackman’s words are drowned out by the sound of Wham!’s 1984 hit Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.

Ryan and Hugh’s characters Wade Wilson and Logan already fought in Gavin Hood’s 2009 movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which despite gloomy reviews.

When audiences last saw Wolverine, whose healing powers had diminished, he had been stabbed in the heart and impaled through a branch by his evil clone X-24 in the 2017 movie Logan.

Logan’s mutant daughter Laura and the other Transigen children then buried him under a wooden X to honor his time with the X-Men.

Upon seeing the video, Logan director James Mangold tweeted: ‘Oh my God! Everyone chill. Just kidding! I’m all right! Logan will always be there.

“Multiverse or prequel, time warp or wormhole, canon or non-canon or even no reason at all, I can’t wait to see what madness my dear friends Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman come up with!”
