Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed branded jurors ‘a**holes’ and ‘idiots’ in furious unrepentant jailhouse calls, prosecutors say ahead of sentencing TODAY
Prosecutors are seeking an additional 18 months in prison for Rust gun keeper Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who will be sentenced Monday after being found guilty of involuntary manslaughter for the death of Halyna Hutchins.
Hutchins was accidentally shot and killed while filming on the set of Rust in October 2021 when Alec Baldwin was practicing with a pistol fired live ammunition that was Gutierrez-Reed’s responsibility.
Prosecutors accused Gutierrez-Reed during a two-week trial of unknowingly bringing live ammunition onto the set of “Rust,” where it was expressly prohibited. They also said she failed to follow basic gun safety protocols.
The jury convicted her in March of involuntary manslaughter, which carries a penalty of up to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine.
They say Gutierrez-Reed, 26, has shown no remorse for her actions and used foul language to describe the jurors who convicted her and should double her sentence.

Special prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis filed a response to a request from Gutierrez-Reed for a conditional discharge, arguing she deserves the exact opposite.
Morrissey urged the judge to impose the maximum prison sentence and designate Gutierrez-Reed as a “serious violent offender” to make her later eligible for a reduced sentence. She described the suspect’s behavior on the set of ‘Rust’ as exceptionally reckless.
She said Gutierrez-Reed has shown a lack of remorse, citing comments Gutierrez-Reed made in jailhouse phone calls with her mother, boyfriend and her attorney’s paralegal, which are being monitored by authorities.
These comments include references to the jury who convicted her as ‘a**holes’, ‘idiots’ and ‘r*****s’.
They have also said she wants Baldwin, who fired the gun that killed Hutchins, to also go to jail and is refusing to testify at his upcoming trial because “she shouldn’t be subpoenaed if Baldwin doesn’t show up for her.” ‘ ‘
“Hannah wants them to put Alec Baldwin in jail too,” the prosecutor added in the filing.
She has also tried to get her legal team to ask Hutchins’ widower and son to speak on her behalf at her sentencing and was angry at how the conviction has damaged both her life and her potential modeling career.
They say she did all this without ever “showing genuine remorse at any point,” while claiming the witnesses who testified at the trial are lying.

Gutierrez-Reed also faces a new charge of concealing a firearm from security staff at a New Mexico bar, according to prosecutors.
‘After successfully bypassing security at the bar, she went to the toilet and took a selfie video saying: ‘They checked my bag, but they didn’t check my butt!’ Wah, wah, wah,” the file says.
She also claims other prisoners have said to her: ‘I can’t believe they threw your pretty little white a** in here for nothing’ and compared prison food to cat food.
Attorney Jason Bowles told the story NBC News in a statement that her legal team “will likely file a response tomorrow.”
Gutierrez-Reed was convicted by a jury in March on charges of involuntary manslaughter in the death of cameraman Hutchins and has been held in a county jail on the outskirts of Santa Fe for more than a month.
Baldwin, the star and co-producer of “Rust,” was pointing a gun at Hutchins when the revolver went off, killing Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza.
The 30 Rock actor has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter, saying he pulled back the gun’s hammer, but not the trigger, before the gun went off.
His trial is scheduled for July before the same judge, Mary Marlowe Sommer, who oversaw Gutierrez-Reed’s trail.
