Insiders reveal Trump’s plot to turn California ‘Republican Red’ after Gov Newsom’s botched wildfire response… and it involves a high-powered MAGA attack dog

Donald Trump is convinced that the devastating wildfires in California will help him turn the traditionally left-wing state Republican.

The newly elected president, who takes power on January 20, is privately ‘furious’ at the devastation caused by the Golden State’s mismanagement, but believes this will work to his advantage – and help the right to destroy the state win in the 2028 elections.

DailyMail.com understands that Trump plans to drive home this point with a high-profile visit to California within weeks of his inauguration.

And rumor has it that Tesla billionaire and “First Buddy” Elon Musk, already tasked with cutting government waste during the new Trump regime, could be called upon to “save” the state and “make California great again.”

Despite its reputation as the most “woke” state in America, Trump and the Republicans made significant gains in the November general election. With the exception of coastal cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco, large parts of California voted for him.

Last night a legal source close to the president told the Mail: ‘Donald sees this as an opportunity to turn the Republicans in California red.

“This is a state that has the fifth largest economy in the world and it should be flourishing. Instead, the Liberals destroyed it with their woke policies. Crime is rising, the streets are dirty, homelessness is everywhere.

The newly elected president is privately “furious” over the devastation caused by the mismanagement of the Golden State, but believes this will work to his advantage and help the right win the state in the 2028 US elections.

‘During the last election, people in California already heard Donald’s message and voted for him.

“It’s still one of the most liberal states in the US, but this complete failure with the wildfires, the fact that the fire hydrants didn’t have enough water, the fact that the Democrats continually cut the fire budget, the fact that none of the essential forest and wildlife clearing work has been done – all of which supports Donald’s message that the Democrats have seriously screwed up.

“His message to everyday Californians is that these wildfires are the final straw. Make the change and vote Republican and watch California roar back to prosperity.”

Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley and LA Mayor Karen Bass, who were in Ghana when the infernos broke out, have come under scathing criticism for their apparent lack of preparedness and, it is claimed, for prioritizing diversity and inclusion over firefighting.

Although Trump is mainly associated with his hometown of New York City and Florida, where he has his mansion at Mar-a-Lago, the president-elect is known to enjoy spending time in California and has a number of business ventures there. He owns real estate in California, including a golf course outside LA.

So it’s not surprising that there also seems to be a personal element to Trump’s interest in the state and its setbacks. He is said to have a “personal dislike” for California Governor Gavin Newsom, who has been in power since 2019.

Trump has even often called the permanently tanned governor “Newscum.”

Gov. Newsom has long been considered one of the leading Democratic candidates for president in the 2028 election. In fact, many believe he could have done much better than Vice President Kamala Harris in the November election.

And there’s an added element of intrigue, as Governor Newsom was previously married to attorney and broadcaster Kimberly Guilfoyle. After leaving California, Guilfoyle became a prominent Trump loyalist, is the former fiancée of Trump’s son Don Jr. and was nominated as ambassador of the new regime in Greece.

The last time California voted Republican was in 1988, when the country supported President George HW Bush (the father of President George W Bush).

Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, a prominent Republican, served as the state’s governor from 2003 to 2011 but faced constant conflict with the Democratic-controlled Legislature.

California remains enormously wealthy with the largest economy by gross domestic product (GDP) of any US state and on paper boasts one of the highest living standards in the country.

Yet in recent years the country has been plagued by crime, drug abuse, homelessness and uncontrolled migration.

It has also become known as the world capital of DEI – a policy designed to promote diversity, equality and inclusivity – and many complain that this amounts to reversing racism and silencing free speech.

Trump has openly criticized California’s “sanctuary state” policy, which protects illegal immigrants from certain aspects of federal immigration enforcement.

The source said: “He also believes their climate change policies have gone too far – and that belief is supported by Elon (Musk), the inventor of the most successful electric car ever.

“Trump will attack California and Newsom very hard during his first 100 days in office. Trump loves the state. He believes that this should be the jewel in the crown of the US, but instead it is a woke disaster.

“He comes fully prepared to take office on January 20, and you can expect several presidential executive orders aimed directly at helping alleviate the wildfire crisis, homelessness and illegal immigration.

“Trump sees this as a golden opportunity for him to prove to ordinary working Californians that his policies work and that he can Make California Great Again.”
