Roxy Jacenko reveals how she ‘thought she was going to die’ after taking Ozempic to lose weight: ‘My whole body was shaking’
Roxy Jacenko has revealed the terrifying health scare she recently had when she overdosed on Ozempic in an attempt to lose weight.
Sweaty Betty’s former owner, 43, said she was “desperate” to lose the 15kg she’d gained while treating her breast cancer with the hormone therapy Tamoxifen.
She took one milligram of the diabetes treatment in her first attack, which was four times the amount prescribed for her by a doctor, reported The Saturday Telegraph.
“I thought I was really going to die. I’ve had cancer, radiation therapy, all that. It doesn’t even compare to how bad I felt when I was on this drug,” she said.
“I was okay for the first 12 hours. I threw up four times that morning, once in a rental car, and went to work.”

Roxy revealed that she then suffered from severe vomiting and non-stop “epilepsy-like” tremors, which landed her in a drug overdose clinic for three days.
‘I called an ambulance. An ambulance was due in an hour, but I thought I was going to die. I went to St. Vincent’s,’ she said.
Roxy has since issued a warning to anyone tempted to use Hollywood’s latest weight loss quick fix.

She said using the drug was “pathetic” and “silly,” and called on celebrities to stop lying about not using it to shed pounds.
Ozempic is a hot topic in Hollywood, with stars admitting to using the diabetes drug for weight loss, or flatly denying it.
Semaglutide is sold under the brand names Ozempic and Rybelsus as an antidiabetic drug used to treat type 2 diabetes.

It is also sold under the brand name Wegovy as an anti-obesity drug for long-term weight management.
The drugs act like a hormone in the brain that makes people feel less hungry and slows down the elimination of food from the stomach, aiding weight loss.
Ozempic and Wegovy have skyrocketed in popularity since they became the first drugs proven to help with weight loss.
Celebrities like Elon Musk, Remi Bader, Chelsea Handler, and Amy Schumer revealed that they used the drug to reduce fat.
