Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch put on a quirky show as they pranced through the streets of Devon while filming their new hit.

The two British acting titans were spotted on North Sands Beach in Salcombe in Devon while filming The Roses – a new version of the 1989 film The War of the Roses.

Olivia, 50, appeared in good spirits as she threw her arms in the air while wearing a red, silky shirt with detailed blue flowers and bananas.

Meanwhile, Sherlock star Benedict, 47, rocked a new look with curly bangs full of caramel highlights.

The pair performed a scene set in a seaside cafe, We’ve Got Crabs.

Benedict stood looking somber outside the seafood bistro when Olivia was seen walking away from the establishment and into a filthy BMW.

The synopsis reads: ‘Life seems easy for beautiful couple Theo (Benedict) and Ivy (Olivia): successful careers, great children, an enviable sex life.

‘But beneath the facade of the perfect family lies a tinderbox of competition and resentment that arises when Theo’s professional dreams collapse.’

Like the previous on-screen version, this new film will once again be based on Warren Adler’s 1981 novel, while being adapted by Tony McNamara.

Benedict will also produce the film through his company SunnyMarch, along with Olivia and her South of the River Productions partners Ed Sinclair and Tom Carver.

“The Roses is an immensely funny, larger-than-life yet deeply human story,” said Searchlight president Matthew Greenfield.

“With Jay at the helm, and Benedict, Olivia and Tony, we have a dream team bringing it to life,” he added.

The original film version starred Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner and was directed by Danny DeVito.

Their performance in the Southern Province comes just weeks after Benedict lifted the lid on his wild karaoke night with friends Olivia, Amy Adams and Melissa McCarthy following the 2019 BAFTAs.

He gave fans some insight into what happens at star-studded after-parties.

Speaking to Zoe Ball on Radio 2 in May, Benedict said there was a lively karaoke gathering following Olivia’s 2019 BAFTA Best Actress win for The Favourite.

He also revealed that Bridesmaids star Melissa, 53, had his case about giving a good performance on the microphone – as she joked that she would ‘kill’ him if he eventually became a good singer.

I went upstairs Melissa McCarthy and I said, ‘I’m really not that good’ and she said, ‘If you are, IF YOU’RE GOOD, I’m going to kill you,’ he laughed. “I said, ‘I’m not and I’m terrified, all these people.'”

Benedict said the epic karaoke session took place after his girlfriend Olivia collected the big prize – which he was watching on TV in his bed.

He said: ‘I was in my pajamas and they called me and said, “Where are you?” and I said “Ahh, okay” and just literally put on the clothes and went outside and ended up in a basement somewhere, I think in a hotel in Soho where there was an after party going on and there was a big karaoke thing going on, which Olivia loves and that cast of that brilliant movie love.

“And there was a great group of people there. We all stood in line, we all had to put a song in.

‘I was like, “Oh my gosh, do I have to do this? I mean, I just woke up? OK, fine” – Young Americans (David Bowie) in.’

But just before Benedict’s turn, he said, was Enchanted star Amy, 49, whose career began in musical theater.

“I completely forgot she started in that world,” Benedict said of Amy’s karaoke performance. ‘And then it was my turn and I… (laughs) and I thought ‘God, I really have to go for it’.

“Melissa McCarthy just stood by a pillar and said, ‘I’m going to kill you. I’m going to kill you’ because I gave it my all.”
