Nearly two dozen residents have been evacuated from an apartment complex in Sydney’s south-west after the roof suddenly collapsed.
Emergency services rushed to the two-storey residential block on Myall Street in Cabramatta after the roof collapsed at 12.30pm on Wednesday.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said two people were assessed at the scene but did not require further treatment, with several treated for dust inhalation.
Fire and Rescue NSW said the building sustained significant damage. It is not yet known what caused the roof to collapse.
“Specialist FRNSW crews are assessing the extent of damage to six two-storey units within the complex,” a spokesperson said.
Fire and Rescue Inspector Mat Sigmund told Daily Mail Australia there appears to be no external damage to the property.
He said firefighters had received reports that the roof may have been damaged before it collapsed.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said residents should no longer enter the unit block until it is cleared of further collapse and asbestos risk.
