Robertstown, SA: Is that a UFO? Astonishing moment mysterious flickering lights appear in the sky

Astonishing footage has emerged of a possible UFO sighting after flashing coloured lights were spotted in the skies north of Adelaide.

A woman posted the video on a Facebook page about UFO sightings in Adelaide, filmed in Robertstown in northern South Australia at 8.45pm on Saturday.

“We saw two lights moving up and down on the left and right,” the woman’s friend said in the message.

‘(The lights) shine very brightly, then disappear for a moment and then reappear.

“This happened just to the left of and below the moon.”

The video captured a series of colored lights flickering in the sky.

“We don’t know exactly what it could be yet,” a woman says in the background.

“It’s just really bizarre.”

The flickering lights (pictured below) were seen beneath the moon, with a woman’s voice on the video calling the sighting “bizarre”

Australians were stunned by the pair’s experiences and their images.

“Freaky AF,” one person wrote.

Others claimed to have seen similar sightings in other parts of South Australia.

“I saw something similar at Semaphore Beach,” said another.

Another wrote: ‘I saw something today. It wasn’t lights, it was early afternoon, just an object hovering way too high to be a drone. It moved a little bit then stopped and kept fading in and out,’ wrote another.

A third commented: ‘I saw something similar in the hills about 6 months ago. Three coloured lights in a row moving steadily downhill. I didn’t have my phone with me.’

But not all Australians were convinced the footage showed a UFO and believed there was a simple explanation.

“Drones usually have those colored lights,” someone wrote.

Another added: ‘I’m pretty sure they’re drones with those colored flashing lights.’

A third wrote: ‘Maybe someone is playing with drones!’

But a drone pilot pointed out that drones rarely fly that high.

‘I am a high altitude drone pilot (only as a hobby). I am always surprised by all those beautiful lights. When I am high in the air I never catch anything,’ wrote one person.

“And if I look around me for about 5 km, I can confirm that there are no other drones to be seen at all. There are NO other drones in the area, day or night. NOTAM can confirm this.”

The footage follows a series of UFO sightings in South Australia over the past decade.

Paul Curnow from the Astronomical Society of South Australia previously reported ABC News that UFO sightings are quite common.

“The average city dweller doesn’t look up at the sky very often. And when they do see something strange, they can’t really explain it,” he said.
