‘Thomas Partey isn’t good enough to do what Casemiro is doing’: Rio Ferdinand says Man United’s £70m man ‘WIPES AWAY’ is Arsenal’s lynchpin as title rivals gear up to meet on sunday

  • Rio Ferdinand has stated that Casemiro is a better midfielder than Thomas Partey
  • He praised the Ghanaian’s impact this season as Arsenal sit at the top of the PL table.
  • But he doesn’t think Partey has the same ‘defensive impact’ as Casemiro
  • Ferdinand cited unspecified statistics to back up his view before their crash.

Rio Ferdinand believes there is no comparison between Manchester United enforcer Casemiro and Thomas Partey despite the Arsenal midfielder’s impressive campaign.

Ferdinand has affirmed that Casemiro ‘cleans it [Partey] away’ with his impact on the game, citing statistics as the basis for his argument ahead of United’s crucial trip to the Emirates to face the Gunners on Sunday.

‘I think the importance to their teams… you could argue both sides equally. But then, when you review Casemiro’s statistics, you eliminate him,” he said in his Vibrate with Five Podcast.

Rio Ferdinand thinks Casemiro is a bit ahead of Thomas Partey ahead of United’s trip to Arsenal

The former Manchester United defender doesn’t think Partey can do a comparable job in the middle of Erik ten Hag’s side.

‘No no no. I don’t think Partey is good enough defensively to do what Casemiro is doing,” she said.

“I don’t think he has the defensive impact for Man United, with the ball he is doing more.”

Partey put in a commanding performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Sunday

However, Ferdinand praised the Ghanaian for his stellar performances this season, most notably his commanding presence in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Tottenham.

‘With the ball, he is doing more. He is dictating the game for Arsenal,” he said.

‘He’s actually playing passes he didn’t know he had. His passing has been incredible.

Casemiro has been one of the signings of the season given his importance at Man United

Both will have a chance to shine again when the teams meet for the second time this season, as Arsenal look to extend their eight-point gap at the top of the Premier League.

United come in spectacular form, coming off a 2-1 win against Manchester City, having won five games in a row, and now trailing the Gunners by just nine points.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will be looking for revenge after losing just once this season in the league, coming at the hands of Erik ten Hag’s side.
