speaking to The Guardian, Rhod began: ‘It feels weird. I don’t know how much to talk about cancer. I haven’t really figured out what to say.

‘I’m really mental health conscious now and check myself every day. I feel good, strangely. I am happy, optimistic and hopeful that next year everything will turn out well.’

He explained that despite losing his social life and job, he is committed to poking fun at serious topics on his upcoming tour, The Book Of John.

“When I get over this, the next show will be similar. Cancer is on my mind 24/7, but when I’m well enough to write, I jot down a few things. And there’s humor there, definitely.

Rhod said he has received letters and emails from ‘all over the world’ from people talking about their own experience of a stroke, parents with Alzheimer’s or infertility, since he has taken a more open approach.

The comedian added that he is also looking forward to the rescheduled tour dates for 2023, which have been pushed back to the summer.

It comes after his wife, Sian Harries, revealed they had to go to hospital, following the comedian’s recent treatment for stage four cancer.

Sian took to Twitter on Wednesday to share that they visited an ‘absolutely rammed’ A&E at an unnamed hospital last week.

She did not reveal the reason for her visit, but did respond to concerned fans asking if she and Rhod were okay with a series of love hearts.

Sian wrote: ‘A&E absolutely rammed with people with dry coughs, we were just the ones wearing masks. I just don’t understand.’

Welsh comedian Rhod detailed the news of his cancer diagnosis to his fans in July, just days after pausing his UK tour.

Earlier, Rhod took to Facebook to reveal that he has been suffering from gallstones and will be undergoing surgery to address the health issue in January.

He announced that seven of his shows that were scheduled for January have now been postponed and will take place in the summer of 2023.
