Why are TikToks getting longer?
The reason TikToks are gradually increasing in length has to do with the removal of the creator fund from Saturday, December 16, 2023.
The creator fund will be replaced by the beta version of the creativity program, which the app’s bosses say will give creators a better chance to earn a higher income from making videos.
However, this only applies to uploads that take longer than one minute.
According to a post from TikTok on the company’s website, the Creativity Program Beta allows creators to earn up to 20 times the amount previously offered by the Creator Fund.
TikTok users now spend 50% of their time on content longer than 1 minute. Dive into this exciting trend and captivate your audience for longer!
Who is eligible for the TikTok Creativity Program Beta?
For anyone who thinks they can make a lot of money immediately if they upload videos longer than a minute, this is not the case.
The beta version of the TikTok creativity program is only open to users who have an account in the United States, are 18 years or older, have at least 10,000 followers, and have at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days.
To participate in the beta of the creativity program if you’re already part of the creator fund, open the TikTok app and tap Profile.
Then tap the menu button (☰) and then Settings. Tap Creator Tools, then tap Creator Fund. Tap Switch at the bottom of the page.

What are RPMs on TikTok?
A number of videos have appeared on the platform in which creators discuss Revenue Per Mille (RPM), a plan launched by TikTok earlier this year.
RPM refers to an amount paid for every 1,000 ‘qualified’ views – people have to watch for a certain amount of time before it counts.
For example, your RPM was €0.20 and you had 100,000 views, then you earned €20.
According to TikTok, qualified views are considered by factors such as video engagement and the authenticity of a view, such as attempts to artificially increase views or interactions.
TikTok says the RPM can fluctuate for a number of reasons, including the region in which the video is being viewed.
