A quiet suburban street is in turmoil after buses full of student girls arrived at a nearby rental property for a two-day event.
Residents of Sunnyside Drive in London, Ontario, have had enough of short-term rentals and are calling the latest incident involving university students “ridiculous.”
Images shared on social media by Chris Prater from the neighborhood show a long line of students outside the rental property.
According to Prater, the young women were dropped off en masse at the address by bus on Saturday morning.
The situation is similar to the 2016 film “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising,” in which Seth Rogen and Zac Efron’s characters wage war on a sorority after it moves to a new neighborhood.

Speaking with CBCPrater said, “That’s not what you want in a residential area. It’s not an appropriate use of the house. It’s a traffic problem, it’s noisy, and we just didn’t sign up for that.”
‘They were dropped off, given some instructions by other girls in the driveway, walked inside and stayed inside for about an hour before coming out, chanting and singing their sorority song.
‘They then waited in the driveway for about 25 to 30 minutes before another bus came to drop off more girls and pick up the girls who were already inside.’
As Marion Warren told CTV NewThat neighbors have been complaining for years about the different groups that rent the house for short stays.
She said, “This weekend was horrible. School bus loads of young women were dropped off and were apparently interviewed at this fraternity house.”
Warren also spoke to CBC, saying there were new cars parked in the driveway all the time and that noise from the backyard pool could be heard all the way down the street.
Other neighbors told the outlet that it often draws large groups or multiple families at once. A stripper once showed up for a bachelor party, one said.
Warren added: ‘This is unfair to the neighbours and I think it will reduce our property values by having it so close by.’

The home’s owner, Jithin Das, a local real estate agent, told CBC he was unaware that hundreds of young women would be coming to his home
He told CBC: “The noise is unbelievable. That house has five or six bedrooms and a pool, so people who rent it have parties and there are 30 people.
‘We don’t really have any weekends anymore, or at least no quiet weekends.’
The home was purchased in March 2020 for $673,000 and was last listed for sale last year for $1.2 million.
The home’s owner, Jithin Das, a local real estate agent, told CBC he was unaware that hundreds of young women would be coming to his house.
In an apology to the outlet, he said: “I am working with Airbnb and they are investigating how this happened. We had no idea this was going to happen.
‘I feel very sorry for the neighbours. I don’t want any further problems.’
According to Das, he was told that about 30 to 40 girls would show up over the weekend in groups of seven or eight, not by the busload.

In London, rental properties must have a certain license to operate and be the tenant’s main residence.
City officials could not provide specific information about the site on Sunnyside Drive but said it was under investigation.
A spokesperson said: “We continue to take corrective actions under city ordinances to address violations at this property.”
An Airbnb spokesperson said: “Airbnb prohibits parties and we have suspended the property and the guest who booked it while we investigate the reported behaviour.”
