Read the disturbing letters demanding Perth homeowners give away their homes and extra cars to prevent ‘unrest and violence’

A concerted campaign to scare homeowners has spread across the country, with vague letters warning residents to give up their property to avoid ‘unrest and violence’.

Disturbing letters signed by ‘your concerned friends’ have emerged in Perth’s western suburbs, attacking residents for being ‘too rich’.

Similar letters from the same ‘friends’ first appeared in mid-year in Melbourne’s upmarket suburb of Toorak and in the coastal town of Lorne, 141km south-west of the Victorian capital.

The letters are mainly about the housing crisis and start with: ‘Hello friend, we are concerned about the damage you are causing to our society.’

The letter ends with an email address, “weare@yourconcernedfriends.org,” encouraging people to get in touch.

The average price of homes in Perth’s west (pictured) is $955,000, suggesting homeowners in the area are “too rich”, the letter said.

The double-sided letter begins bluntly: “You are too rich, and that is hurting a lot of people.”

Climate activists have deflated the tires of at least 15 SUVs in an affluent Melbourne neighborhood.

The other side asks a question: ‘Don’t you think you’re too rich? The house and neighborhood you live in suggest that you are!’

The average price of homes in Perth’s western suburbs is $955,000, according to the US newspaper Real Estate Institute of Western Australia.

In Toorak the average buy-in to the housing market is $5.8 million and in Lorne about $2 million.

This kind of wealth can only be in the hands of someone who “causes inequality,” the letter said.

“You can solve this by giving away a substantial part of your wealth,” the report suggests.

‘This is not only ethical; it will help steer our society toward harmony and away from chaos.”

According to the letter, history has proven that inequality has given rise to resentment between the upper and lower classes, which inevitably “boils over.”

If growing resentment is not addressed, violence will soon endanger everyone, the letter continues.

“As someone who causes inequality, you have the resources and the responsibility to solve it.”

But by giving away all excess wealth, it reassures recipients that “you will still be able to live a comfortable life with much less than you have now.”

Similar letters have previously been sent to residents of Toorak and Lorne in Victoria

Homeowners in Lorne (pictured), 141 kilometers southwest of Melbourne, where the average house price is $2 million, received the letter in June

By suggesting how homeowners can “keep us all safe,” the letter offers a simple three-step plan for redistributing wealth.

“Step 1. Give away all the investment properties you own to the people who are currently renting them,” it begins.

‘Step 2. Give all the vacation homes you own to long-term renters.

‘Step 3. If your household has more cars than licensed drivers, give away the extra cars to people who don’t have one.

“This isn’t the only thing you need to do, but it’s where you need to start.”
