Two ticket collectors were talking to each other in West Bengal when a live wire fell between them, electrocuting one of the workers whose body fell on to the tracks.

Video shows the two workers chatting to each other at the rail station in Kharagpur when the electric cable falls down on to the ticket collector’s head.

He falls backwards, tumbling off the platform and almost landed on the tracks — with the other rail worker running away in shock.

But thanks to quick-thinking railway staff who rushed to his aid, the unconscious worker survived.

The man suffered burns and is being treated at a hospital, officials said.

The freak incident was caught on camera and is going viral on social media circles in India.

‘Probably the leather shoes saved a more severe earth supply…. Thank God he is out of danger,’ said Tejinder Singh Renu on Twitter.

‘Thankfully no train arrived at the platform when he was down on tracks! Let’s hope he recovers fast,’ said a second Twitter user.

‘What I appreciate about this footage is that not a single person is seen shooting videos — all trying to find n help out,’ said another user. ‘One of the reasons why I love Bengal. Humanity is alive n kicking there.’

‘Glad to hear he is out of danger. Extremely unfortunate incident,’ another concluded.

In June, CCTV footage of another Indian rail station showed an elderly woman narrowly escaping from the path of a train.

She would likely have been killed had the Railway Police Force official in Lalitpur not come to her rescue.
