A Qantas flight from Singapore to Sydney has been forced to divert to Adelaide following an airborne emergency.

However, the flight changed course and landed in Adelaide at around 05:00 after the crew declared an airborne emergency.

No details of the medical emergency have been revealed and the flight has since taken off again on its way to Sydney.

It is the third time in less than a week that a Qantas plane has been hit by an emergency during a flight.

On Monday, a Qantas flight departed Adelaide to return after passengers noticed a disturbing odor.

Qantas flight QF1974 took off at 11.20am and was due to land in Canberra at around 1.25pm.

The cabin crew smelled fumes in the aircraft about 10 minutes after takeoff, prompting the pilot to request a priority landing to return to Adelaide immediately.

A Qantas spokesman said at the time that the “the fumes dissipated quickly and no one was touched by the incident.”

Another QantasLink aircraft en route from Sydney to Port Macquarie was also diverted after a mechanical problem.

QF2162 left Sydney Airport at about 10:50 a.m. Friday morning, but returned and landed safely at 12:00 p.m.

Emergency services rushed to meet it.
