PwC Australia sacks 366 staff as part of a major restructure

PwC Australia will make 366 positions redundant, with the firm announcing it will cut 329 employees and up to 37 partners.

The restructuring is reportedly aimed at ensuring the business model is simplified in the wake of a controversial year in business.

It was discovered that PwC’s tax practice misused confidential government briefings to help clients avoid impending tax laws.

PwC was forced to sell its government consulting business – worth up to $1 billion – for $1 last year.

At the end of last year, almost 350 jobs were also cut, with several partners also taking early retirement.

The company’s Skilled Services Hub in Adelaide was also closed as part of the restructuring, resulting in the loss of 141 jobs.

The company has also recently lost several clients, including Westpac, which dumped PwC as external auditor after a 20-year partnership in November.

PwC Australia has been contacted.
