Trump continues to dominate polls as new survey shows he has more than HALF the support of Republican voters and 38 points ahead of second-place DeSantis
Donald Trump’s lead isn’t diminishing in the national polls, as 57 percent of Republican primary voters say they would vote for the former president over any other candidate in the crowded field.
Second place finished in the latest opinion poll from Morning Consult released Tuesday is still Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — but he remains a huge 38-point deficit to Trump with just 19 percent support.
Both DeSantis and Trump will visit the early primary contest state of New Hampshire on Tuesday for campaign events. DeSantis heads to Hollis to interact with voters while Trump presides over the opening of his Granite State campaign headquarters.
In addition to Trump and DeSantis, there are 12 other candidates in the GOP primary.
A new poll from Morning Consult shows Donald Trump has an ever-growing lead with 57% support among Republican primary voters
None other than the two frontrunners received double-digit support from Republican primary voters.
But if the general presidential election is held tomorrow, DeSantis has the best chance of defeating President Joe Biden.
A DailyMail.com/JL Partners poll of 1,000 likely general election voters found that the Democratic nominee would take 44 percent of the vote to 43 percent in a Biden-DeSantis matchup.
But Democratic voters seemed more motivated in an election against Trump, giving Biden a 46 percent lead over the former president’s 44 percent.
Former Vice President Mike Pence, one of the most recent entrants to the race, is third with 7 percent support in the Morning Consult poll, and biotech millionaire Vivek Ramaswamy is fourth with 6 percent.
The two candidates from South Carolina — Senator Tim Scott and former ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley — are tied for fifth with 3 percent each.
Once-Gov. for New Jersey, Chris Christie has 2 percent and former Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson has only 1 percent.
No other candidate among the longshots broke the 1 percent mark.
The Morning Consult survey was conducted June 23-25 of 3,650 voters registered to vote in the 2024 Republican primary.
The poll has Trump 38 points ahead of second-place Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as the two head to New Hampshire for dueling campaign events on Tuesday
Most other polls have produced similar results with Trump a distant leader, DeSantis second, several dozen points behind the former president, and the rest of the field trailing much further behind.
It seemed that DeSantis was gaining ground in New Hampshire, but a new survey showed that the gap between the governor and Trump widened as the campaign progressed.
In addition, some polls have shown Trump getting a bump after the impeachment.
Typically, DeSantis is at least 20 points behind Trump, showing that the governor has a lot to make up for if he wants to give the ex-president a run for his money in the 2024 primary.
