Jacksonville police are reviewing shocking footage that has gone viral showing police fighting fans during the Georgia Bulldogs vs. Florida Gators game on Saturday.
The footage shows two Florida fans being wrestled to the ground and beaten by police. An elderly fan is seen being grabbed by a police officer and does not appear to resist the officer, who continues to throw punches at him.
Another supporter appears to be stuck on a nearby staircase as another police officer throws punches.
A statement from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said Saturday that they “are aware of the videos circulating of the Georgia-Florida football game.”
‘Administrative investigations into the incidents are being opened. Therefore, the agency will not respond until all facts are known and investigations have been completed.”
As for the game itself, Georgia defeated rival Florida 34-20 and moved to a 7-1 record for the season.
