Pilot somehow keeps cool after enormous bird smashes into cockpit covering him in blood in Ecuador

A pilot somehow managed to keep his cool after a huge bird smashed through the windshield into his cockpit in Ecuador, leaving him covered in blood.

Squadron leader Ariel Valiente’s video has gone viral after the plane’s captain captured the terrifying incident in Vinces, Los Ríos province.

Footage shows the badly injured bird dangling above the pilot, who has bloodstains all over his face and uniform as he continues to control the plane and looks unphased.

Fortunately, the rest of the exercise went according to plan and the aircraft maintained its stability throughout.

Aviation authorities have not yet been able to determine the altitude of the aircraft at the time of the incident, nor the route it followed.

The large bird is said to have died a few minutes after impact.

In April, a passenger jet pilot had to make an emergency landing after a bird flew into one of the engines.

The incident occurred during the AV9377 flight of the airline Avianca from the island of San Andrés to Bogotá in Colombia.

The video showed flames shooting from one of the plane’s engines shortly after takeoff.

The plane was forced to return to Gustavo Rojas Pinilla International Airport in San Andrés, located in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Nicaragua but part of Colombia.

The Airbus A 320-214 made a successful emergency landing.
