The identities of two people killed in a mass shooting at a block party in Baltimore have been revealed – when a video emerged showing revelers before the gunfire erupted.
Baltimore City Police Department identified Kylis Fagbemi, 20, and Aaliyah Gonzales, 18, later the same day, as Metro Crime Stoppers released footage of the couple.
Acting Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley recounted Fox Baltimore that of the 28 other victims, at least 14 were minors and 9 remain in hospital, some in critical condition.
Video footage that emerged in the aftermath of the tragedy showed revelers twerking and dancing in the street hours before a gunman opened fire.
Police say they are still looking for suspects, but called the crime scene “extensive” and said other jurisdictions were also working with them to determine the motive for the attack.

“We’re sure there are definitely more than one [suspect]. We don’t know exactly how many, but we do know that more than one person was shooting,” Worley said.
Not much is known about Fagbemi, but a heartbreaking post on Facebook made by Gonzales’ mom, Krystal, revealed that the 18-year-old had recently graduated from high school.
The grieving mother posted photos and videos of her daughter prior to her untimely death in disbelief.
‘MY BABY!!! Worst day of my life! I can’t live without her. I NEED HER!!,” she captioned the post.
“Why would they do this to a perfect angel? I love you so much, baby. I wasn’t there fast enough. God this is a mistake!!! Please!!’
Hundreds responded to Krystal’s message and shared their condolences.
“This was a reckless, cowardly act that happened here that permanently changed many lives and cost the lives of two people,” Mayor Brandon Scott said Sunday afternoon.
“I want those in charge to hear me, hear me very clearly: We won’t stop until we find you. And we will find you.’
The shooting occurred just after 12:30 a.m. at a neighborhood party in the Brooklyn Homes area in the southern part of the city, acting Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said.
Hundreds of people gathered in the area for an event dubbed “Brooklyn Day,” a witness said. Another witness told FOX45 News that they heard 20 to 30 shots.
“They kept going,” the witness said.
A video, about three hours prior to the shooting, showed a crowd of hundreds gathered at the block party, dancing and twerking before the night descended into horror.

The 12-second video was posted to TikTok with a timestamp and a caption that read, “Good thing I left when I did, it was fun but scary!”
Nine victims were taken by ambulance and 20 victims walked into area hospitals with injuries from the shooting, Worley said.
Hours after the shooting, several officers remained on scene, working behind police tape amid tightly packed two-story housing blocks.
Folding tables and plastic cups were scattered around the scene, apparently left behind as people ran from the gunfire.
A witness, Lakell Nelson, 54, told the Baltimore sun that people had misunderstood the sound of fireworks during the block party. But it wasn’t a false alarm when the shooting started.
“The shots went on and on,” Nelson said, adding that two women walked up to her and said they had been shot.
‘I didn’t believe them at first, because they were walking down the street. I said, “Show me,” and the girl said, “I got shot in the ass,” she said. “When she turned around, I saw the hole through her shorts.”
Nelson helped the women into her car and drove to the nearest hospital.
“When I pulled up in front of the hospital, my car was almost ready to go into the hospital because I was determined to get those babies into that hospital,” Nelson said.

Fellow witness Terry Brown was standing outside his home when the shooting began. He said people were running from the courtyard, jumping fences and calling out to loved ones.
“They ran for their lives,” Brown said.
Brown saw a girl get shot and neighbors put pressure on her body. Other victims were loaded into cars and taken to hospitals.
“It was so many kids. It was chaos,” Brown said. “Parents were running around looking for their kids, screaming and yelling, and don’t know if their kids have a bullet in them.”
A spokesperson for the University of Maryland Medical System said 12 people received treatment and Shock Trauma and four went to the center’s pediatric emergency department.
A MedStar Health official said 19 people have been treated and all but one have been released. Nine were stabilized and transferred to other trauma centers.
Authorities said the crime scene was extensive and would take some time for detectives to investigate.
“Treat this like it’s your family,” Scott said.
“How would you like people to handle it if you’re grieving, if this was your neighborhood, if this was an event in your community where this happened.

“We want you to treat it that way, because that’s how we should treat each other as Baltimoreans.”
Worley said police had not been notified in advance of the large party. The department would investigate what agents did once they determined there was a meeting.
“If we’ve made mistakes, we’ll fix them and move on so it never happens again,” Worley said. “But again, we didn’t know this event happened.”
The violence comes as federal prosecutors in Baltimore this week praised their efforts to reduce violent crime in the city.
Police have reported nearly 130 homicides and nearly 300 shootings so far this year, though that’s less than last year. Authorities have vowed to act aggressively against repeat violent offenders.
