Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Harrison Ford attend Indiana Jones premiere at Cannes

Harrison Ford began his emotional swan song for his on-screen hero, Indiana Jones, on Thursday, when he attended the star-studded premiere of The Dial Of Destiny at the Cannes Film Festival.

Supported by his wife Calista Flockhart, the veteran actor graced the red carpet for the first glimpse of the highly anticipated movie, along with his co-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

The premiere proved to be the hottest ticket to this year’s Cannes festival, with a slew of glamorous beauties, including Karlie Kloss and Gemma Chan, also in attendance.

Harrison will reprise his role as the titular hero for the final time in the fifth Indiana Jones film, having first taken on the iconic character in 1984’s Raiders Of The Lost Ark.

The movie, which comes out June 30, also stars Mads Mikkelsen and Antonio Banderas and is directed by James Mangold.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge plays Indiana Jones’ goddaughter Helena Shaw in the film, with filmmakers describing the character as “smooth” and “charming.”

“She’s a mystery and a wonder,” Phoebe, who also stars in the film alongside Antonio Banderas, told Empire about her character.

“Making the movie was everything I had hoped for, with the chance to work on my own stunts and action sequences,” she added.

“If the script said throw yourself on the back of a vehicle, I threw myself on the back of a vehicle!”

The upcoming action movie will be released on June 30 and will be the last Indiana Jones film.

“This is the last movie in the series and this is the last time I play the character. I expect it will be the last time he appears in a movie,” Harrison himself recently confirmed in an interview with Total Film.

In November, it was reported that Disney Plus was in the early stages of developing an Indiana Jones TV series, though Harrison insisted he was not involved in that either.

He said he “will not be involved in that, if it comes to fruition,” adding that he is quite excited for fans to see the latest Indy adventure.

“I had been ambitious to make this movie for 10 years, and there finally came a time when we all committed to it,” the actor admitted.

“It was a joyous moment for me. I think it’s a rare situation I find myself in.”

‘I have been able to deliver beautiful films developed by Steven [Spielberg] and George [Lucas] over a period of 40 years, and to end it not with a whimper, but with a bang, has been my greatest ambition for this excursion,” he continued.
