Peter Crouch has issued a glowing review of Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez and has claimed that the Blues substitute is going through a similar situation to the one he was in during his time at Liverpool.
The former Anfield striker was relegated to the bench on many occasions during his time at Liverpool when he played second fiddle to Spanish star Fernando Torres.
Speaking ahead of Man City’s Etihad clash with his former team, Crouch revealed he ‘loves’ Argentina’s World Cup winner Álvarez, who starts in the absence of the injured Erling Haaland.
“I love him as a player, it’s frustrating that I had it with Torres at Liverpool, who seemed to score every time he touched the ball,” Crouch told BT Sport.
“You will not replace Haaland, but you have to be ready for any occasion that presents itself or play alongside him.”
