Pete Davidson teases return to Saturday Night Live as host in new promo alongside Chloe Fineman and Bowen Yang… ahead of show’s season premiere episode

Pete Davidson teased his anticipated return to Saturday Night Live as he takes on hosting duties for the 49th season premiere episode airing later this week on Saturday, October 14.

The Bodies Bodies Bodies actor, 29 – who will be joined by musical guest Ice Spice on the big night – appeared in a 47-second promo alongside SNL comedians Chloe Fineman and Bowen Yang that dropped on Wednesday.

The clip kicked off with Fineman and Yang hanging out on the quiet set as the pair discussed their excitement ‘to be back’. The previous 48th season was notably halted early due to the WGA strike – which officially came to an end at the end of last month.

The pair spoke about their summers, with the Babylon actress saying: ‘I actually met my birth mother.’ Bowen revealed that he watched all of Suits, but added: ‘I don’t know what it’s about.’

Suddenly Pete appeared in the studio, nibbling on a bag of salty potato chips. “Yeah!” he casually called out to the comedians, who whirled around in shock to see Davidson.

“Piet… what are you doing here?” Yang asked confused, giving Chloe a quick glance.

“Oh, my apartment is under construction, so I’m just staying here,” the Bupkis star explained, still munching on the tasty chips.

Fineman sent Pete an apologetic look and told him that, ‘Only cast or hosts are allowed in the studio’, indicating that he would have to leave.

However, Davidson nonchalantly replied: ‘Oh well, I’ll do it. The host thing. I will host.’ The actress then chimed in and said: ‘Pete, that’s not how it works. You can’t just say you’re host and -.’

She was immediately floored when Davidson sent her what he called the “Kenan face,” referring to fellow SNL star Kenan Thompson.

Saturday Night Live returns to NBC starting Oct. 14 after the WGA strike, with Pete hosting and Ice Spice taking the stage as the musical guest for the premiere episode.

The following week, Bad Bunny will not only take on hosting duties, but will also be the musical guest.

Earlier this year in May, Pete was scheduled to host an episode of SNL — but his appearance was canceled when production on the sketch comedy was shut down just days after the writer’s strike began.

Davidson starred in the show for a total of eight years, and he first joined SNL in 2014 when he was just 20 years old. However, the star confirmed his exit from the series in May last year.

His close friend Dave Sirus shared a throwback video that showed Pete hugging fellow comedian Jerrod Carmichael, along with a message confirming his departure.

‘This video was taken 8 years ago. Jerrod sent me this last night and it made me super emotional in the best way,” Pete said in the Instagram caption.

Reflecting on how he joined the show when he was 20, he admitted: ‘I had no idea what I was doing. I still don’t but especially at the time. I wasn’t really a sketch artist, I was just a stand up.’

“I knew I could never keep up or go toe-to-toe with a Kenan Thompson or Kate McKinnon, so I was really scared to find out what I could possibly bring or do to such a historic, respected show and platform. ”

He later added: ‘I got to share so much with this audience and literally grow up before your eyes. We’ve been together through the good and the bad, the happiest and the darkest of times.’

Pete also sent thanks to creator Lorne Michaels and the cast, saying, “I owe Lorne Michaels and everyone at SNL my life,” and also called SNL “my home.”

Despite his retirement, the star kept himself particularly busy by appearing in projects such as Bodies Bodies Bodies and the comedy drama, Bupkis.

An insider recently informed DailyMail.com that Madelyn is ‘having fun’ with the former SNL star. “Madelyn expects her current relationship with Pete to be nothing but a good time and it won’t be her last.”

“She thinks he’s hilarious and fun and she’s all about hanging out with him, but she’s 25 and she doesn’t want anything serious, she wants to have fun, and she thinks Pete thinks the same and their relationship is all over have a good time.’

“It’s not serious by any means, she’s taking it day by day and that’s all that’s working for her now, Pete shouldn’t expect her to be his soulmate, she’s not giving off those vibes.”

However, the two have already enjoyed a trip together in Las Vegas and the actress was also seen boarding his private jet after a stand-up show in Phoenix.
