A man feared he would be killed when he was allegedly attacked by another motorist with a metal object after the pair exchanged details following a minor car crash.
Dermott, who was driving home from work, had parked his car at the traffic lights at the intersection of Alexandra Drive and Woodrow Avenue in Dianella, north Perth, about 6pm last Tuesday.
While the 55-year-old man was waiting at the traffic lights, a white ute crashed into his car from behind.
The two vehicles suffered minor damage in the collision, with the motorists stopping and getting out to exchange data.

However, after the pair got together, Dermott claims the other man said he felt sick and moved closer to the bushes in an attempt to throw up.
Moments later, Dermott was reportedly hit several times by a metal object in an unprovoked attack after he went to check on the driver of the ute.
“I heard a loud pop on the left side of my head,” he said 7 News.
“I felt the blood rushing down the back of my neck and also to the front of my shirt.”
Dermott claimed the man headbutted him in the eye and cheek, with the vicious blows causing him to fall to his knees.
He also had to give the man his phone and wallet after the motorist demanded the items from him.

Dermott was reportedly punched again by the man as he stood over him before trying to fight back in fear for his life.
‘I wanted to survive to go home and see my wife. That’s it,’ he said.
“I’m very nervous, I’m very shocked and I’m very scared.”
The alleged attacker fled the scene before Dermott managed to wave a passing motorist off.
Police and paramedics arrived on the scene a short time later before Dermott was taken to hospital with head injuries, a broken wrist and a broken hand.
A gruesome photo showed a bloody gash on his head as he was treated by first responders.
He spent the next five days in the hospital.
Dermott suffered several head wounds (pictured) as a result of the unprovoked attack, as well as a broken wrist and fingers.
Police are still looking for the man and investigating the incident.
“It’s abhorrent violence in the community,” Detective Senior Constable John Larson of WA Police said.
“The randomness of the attack is of course also a concern.”
Footage from nearby traffic cameras showed the ute had a black bull bar on the front, a black bonnet scoop on the front of the bonnet and a snorkel on the left side of the vehicle.
The man is described as having an olive complexion and being 178cm tall.
