Pepijn Lijnders has hit back at those who have criticized him for putting out a book on Liverpool’s tactics, claiming it ‘don’t give away as much as people think’.

Jurgen Klopp’s second-in-command released a book entitled ‘Intensity: Inside Liverpool’ on 7 July while he was still working as the club’s assistant coach.

Liverpool fans were outraged by the decision to publish a behind-the-scenes look, with former midfielder Dietmar Hamann saying ‘alarm bells’ should be ringing.

Lijnders has published book ‘Intensity: Inside Liverpool FC’, which provides insight into tactics

The Dutch football coach said about his book: ‘[I have] No regrets [about the book]I loved every word.

“The moment it was published, it was finished, it’s a new season, new problems. I hope many people enjoy it.

“You know better than anyone when you write something, there will be people who like it and people who don’t!”

Lijnders continues: ‘The book doesn’t reveal as much as people say, but it is a bit of inside information. If it inspires some, I’m happy.

He added: ‘If you don’t know what to buy as a Christmas present, please buy it for your bitter uncle!’

After criticism, Lijnders said the book ‘doesn’t give away as much as people think’

Lijnders released a book in early July entitled ‘Intensity: Inside Liverpool FC’, describing it as ‘expert first-hand insight into everything from training to tactics and team conversations’.

On the day his book was published, Lijnders said: ‘The concept for this started last summer in preparation for the season during our 28-day training camp.

“When James suggested it as perhaps an idea for the future, my immediate response was, ‘Let’s do it now, why wait?’

“And from then on we were all-in. Of course, I had no idea how the season was going to go, but whatever happened, I was committed to this project. As we say, what we do, we do 100 percent at Liverpool FC.

Former Liverpool midfielder Hamann wondered why Lijnders was allowed to publish the book

“I decided we wouldn’t hold back in this book; what you read is what happened as it happened over the course of the season. I think this book is for anyone who likes the game.

“You read all about the decisions, the training, the tactics, the team conversations and how Jürgen motivates and leads this team, the players and the staff like no other because we had an incredible season, we won two trophies and two more close. to go.

“If you want to know more, I recommend you get the book – and for Liverpool fans, don’t forget we’re different because of you.”

People like Hamann expressed concern about the book, claiming that “alarm bells should start ringing.” He also wondered why Klopp’s assistant was allowed to publish such a book while he was still working at the club.

The Dutch coach is highly regarded at Liverpool and has been Klopp’s number 2 since 2018

Hamann tweeted: ‘Alarm bells should have ringed for Liverpool fans when the current assistant manager wrote a book while he was still employed by the club. I’m not so sure how he was allowed to do it.’

Nevertheless, Lijnders maintains that the booking does no harm and that there will always be people who liked and disliked it.

Liverpool will return to action against Southampton on Saturday as they look to change their Premier League form. They are also set to face Derby County in the third round of the EFL Cup.
