The White House wanted Khalidi to say she felt represented by then-Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson after Biden nominated her to the US Supreme Court.

The content creator said she disagreed with that wording because she didn’t feel “reflected” as a “person of color.”

“The funny thing is they say, ‘Don’t announce this is an ad.’ Because, you know, they say, “technically it’s not a product, so you don’t have to reveal that it’s an advertisement.”

“Because I think they just wanted to have a sharp girl of color to tell people – when they nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson, they said, ‘Can you say that as a person of color you feel reflected?’” Khalidi explained . in the podcast.

She added, “And it’s a white woman who emails this to me and she hands me this script.

“And I’m like, no, I’d like to talk about the news about it. But I’m not going to let a white person tell me, “You know, this is how I feel as a person of color.”

Khalidi clarified that it was not Biden or his immediate team who contacted her, but that a third party, a media company, bought the ad.
