One dead and at least 46 injured after a charter bus packed with Farmingdale High School students attending band camp crashes off an embankment on I-84 in Orange County, New York

One person has been confirmed dead. At least five are in critical condition after a Greyhound bus carrying students to band camp fell off an embankment in upstate New York.
Emergency workers go to the scene of the accident, in which at least fifty people were injured.
The bus reportedly overturned in the Orange County city of Wawayanda just before 1:30 p.m.
It was one of six that transported 300 students from Farmingdale High School in Nassau County to a band camp music event in Greeley, Pennsylvania, ABC7 reported.
It appears the bus left the busy roadway and fell down an embankment before coming to rest in a heavily wooded area. Sources told the channel that at least five people were in critical condition.
Two Medivac helicopters evacuated some injured people.

“We were informed that there had been an accident on the 1 bus en route to Greeley, PA for band camp,” Farmingdale School District said in a statement
‘Police and emergency services on site, as well as the district administration. We will provide another update as more information becomes available. We ask for your patience as we gather more details.”
New York State Police said westbound Route 84 was closed at Exit 15 as the investigation continued.
A spokesperson for SUNY Orange said the university’s physical education center will be used as a family information/reunification center.
