Ohio man accused of setting father’s girlfriend on fire tells police he ‘don’t know what happened’

An Ohio man accused of setting fire to his “stepmother” told police he “don’t know what happened” after officers found the woman in the backyard of their home badly burned with “teeth knocked out.” ‘.

Robbie Davon Robinson Jr. was arrested by the Fairfield Township Police Department in connection with the heinous act of arson and released bodycam footage revealing the moments after the attack.

You hear a woman, identified as Brenda Scott, who is in a relationship with Robinson Jr.’s father.

‘I can not breathe! My inhaler is in the house… I can’t breathe, he knocked my teeth out,” you can hear her explain frantically in the edited footage.

A short time later, Robinson Jr. can be seen approaching the police and seems shocked by the unfolding incident.

“I don’t know what happened,” Robinson can be heard saying in the video. “It just went off.”

Scott reportedly jumped from the second floor of their home and was found “severely burned” when emergency services arrived on the scene.

What led to Scott’s dramatic escape remains unclear. Robinson Jr. has been taken into custody and a judge has set his bail at $200,000.

Robinson remained in disbelief when the police explained what had happened to Scott.

“Your stepmother jumped in the back,” an officer said on the footage.

“Oh, did she?” he can be heard answering.

Neighbor Dennis Williams told WKRC that his dogs alerted him to the commotion and he ran outside to find Scott distressed and covered in burns, before calling 911.

“Water with gasoline, he threw it on her,” Williams told dispatchers during the call, the outlet reported.

Officers were also seen trying to reassure Scott, one officer turned to the distressed woman and asked her to stay awake while ambulances arrived at the scene.

The officer quickly arrests Robinson Jr, who continues to protest his innocence.

The officer proceeds to handcuff Robinson, saying, “Until I find out what’s going on.”

Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports that a woman had been set on fire in the back garden of the house around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Scott lay sprawled on the grass and begged for help.

“I said, ‘What happened, what happened?'” Williams explained. “And she said, ‘He set me on fire.’

“She just had horrible, horrible burns — I mean, I’m no expert, but at least half of her body — I mean, horrible burns. She wasn’t on fire at the time, but there was a small flame next to her that was dying out.

“It was pretty traumatizing to watch and everything that happened, but again, I’m glad I was able to help.

Scott was airlifted to UC Medical Center in critical condition and underwent surgery.

Robinson, who called his father’s girlfriend his stepmother, has been held in Butler County Jail.

He is charged with first-degree aggravated arson and second-degree misdemeanor and is due in court on May 17.

Fairfield Township Police Sgt. Brandon McCroskey said the whole thing was chilling.

“It’s one where the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end, I don’t care how long you’ve been at it.”
