Oh dear, Windows 12 might have just been leaked…by Microsoft and Intel

While rumors of a possible release of Windows 12 have been circulating, this latest leak appears to be the most concrete evidence we have yet of the existence of the new operating system.
Hardware leaker @leaf_hobby, reported by The edge, revealed details about Intel’s Meteor Lake desktop platform. According to those details, Intel has reportedly said its upcoming CPUs will support Windows 12. The tweet has since been deleted and both Microsoft and Intel have declined to comment to The Verge on the validity of this report and other rumours.
Prior to this leak, Zac Bowden of Windows Central reported that Microsoft would be switch to a new engineering scheme that would mean a new version of Windows OS is released every three years. If this turns out to be correct information, it would put the next release, Windows 12, at 2024.
Bowden also reported that the next release of Windows OS is called ‘Next Valley’. An image was even shown of the operating system at Ignite 2022, in which the design was supposedly designed to adapt to different devices and accessories.
Another rumor that is less than desirable
There is also a rumor that Windows 12 will release the first cloud-based operating system, which doesn’t exactly sound far-fetched. If true, it can be hosted off-device and bundled with computers and storage as part of a subscription package. Frankly, I find that future frightening.
We already have a lot of software, such as the Adobe suite and Microsoft Office, that work on a subscription basis. And that alone is hard to deal with if you’re on a tight budget and can’t afford the expensive prices. But at least these products can be easily replaced with free, open source versions.
Having an operating system that isn’t hard-installed on a PC is a whole different beast. A variant, virtual desktop setups, has been used by companies for years to support BYOD scenarios, but it’s nothing compared to having the OS on a Windows PC or laptop in cloud storage, with features that should become standard. distributed at a premium price.
Hopefully this is a series of rumors that will be disproved with time.
