A selection of Sydney bus stops have undergone a helpful new update to ensure passengers have accurate information about the next service.
New digital bus stop schedules from Mercury Innovation and Visionect, spotted on the Metro North West Line, have replaced traditional cardboard versions.
The ‘eStops’ show in real time how far the next bus is, as well as the capacity level and information about service interruptions.
Adrian Widjy, who runs the “Places in Sydney” page, came across a smart sign at the Macquarie University Station stop and raved about the technology on an Instagram page. video.
The touchscreen displays are also environmentally friendly and run entirely on solar energy.

According to Google, the upgrades were rolled out in 2018 AV magazineand more have appeared since then.
The latest technology brings convenience to passengers, especially the elderly who may not own a mobile phone and those who do not have access to Wi-Fi data.
On Instagram, Adrian said he was impressed with the new bus stop displays.
‘Have you seen these bus stops? I believe it’s called e-stops using e-paper – similar technology to an e-book Kindle!’ He wrote.
The video shows how the display counts down the minutes until the next service.
In the comments, others urged NSW Transport to update more signs across the city and state.
“Necessity – I was waiting for a bus last week and my phone was dead and took forever to arrive,” one man wrote.
“Good for people without phones, especially seniors,” said another.
“I wish all major bus stops looked like this – it’s priceless,” a third wrote.
