No Man’s Sky’s antagonist robots are now smarter, madder, and corrupted
Nobody’s Heaven‘s latest update. Interceptor strikes today. This free patch includes new Interceptor starships, Sentinel-damaged planets, and new enemy types. The Interceptor update activates the pesky Sentinel robots that plague players while viewing planets; the robots now have more varieties, new powers and even the ability to take over entire worlds.
Corrupted worlds are strange, with crystals sticking out of the earth. They are guarded by Sentinels – but unfortunately the immense powers of corruption have affected the robots, causing them to take on new forms. New buildings, cute Sentinel jetpacks, powerful new Multi-Tools and downed Interceptor ships litter the surface of these dangerous planets, making them worth the risk to explore.
According to the official page of the update, corrupted Sentinels are now “semi-arachnoid machines” with “devastating flamethrowers and long-range explosives.” These drones are much more tactical than their non-corrupt counterparts and they will hunt players relentlessly. Players who prefer space combat can also take on corrupted Sentinel capital ships in dramatic starship battles.
Even if you’re not on a corrupted planet, Sentinels are still more powerful thanks to improvements to Sentinel Quads. These combat bots now have new animations, intelligent pathfinding, and the ability to activate a stealth field.
On the plus side, the Interceptor update also includes improvements to VR menu access, a new Nexus mission, and a fancy new cape. Fractal, the first major update of 2023, laid the groundwork for many other VR improvements, so it’ll be interesting to see what the galaxy looks like through a VR headset. Nobody’s Heaven is available on PC and consoles, as well as in virtual reality on PC or with a PlayStation VR2.
