Nikki Haley has issued an ominous warning to Donald Trump after criticizing President Joe Biden’s performance during the debate.
Haley told The Wall Street Journal that given Biden’s poor performance Thursday night, the Democratic Party will likely replace the current nominee with a younger, more coherent candidate.
She said, ‘They’re going to do it smartly: they’re going to make someone younger, they’re going to make someone more energetic, they’re going to make someone tested.’
Trump and Republicans must “prepare for what is coming,” she said.
Biden’s team has repeatedly denied that he will step down, but rumors of possible replacements have been swirling while the president and his team are at Camp David.
Nikki Haley told The Wall Street Journal that given how poorly Biden performed Thursday night, the Democratic Party will likely replace him with a younger candidate.
During Thursday’s 90-minute debate, Biden repeatedly appeared to lose his train of thought and struggle to finish sentences.
After the debate, Biden himself said: ‘I don’t walk as easily as I used to. I no longer speak as fluently as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to.’
His actions caused panic among Democrats. David Axelrod, a former adviser to Barack Obama, said there was a “sense of shock” in the party and that there would be “conversations about whether he (Biden) should continue.”
Haley stressed that the Democratic Party has no choice but to replace the aging president.
She told the Journal: “What we saw was that Trump was strong, but I don’t even think that mattered because Biden was so astonishingly unfit.
The way he lost the thread, the way he didn’t understand what to talk about.
“This is a time for Republicans to prepare and prepare for what is to come, because there is no way that there will be a surviving Democratic Party if they allow Joe Biden to remain the candidate.
“If they continue on this path and have Biden as their candidate, they are committing to hurting America.”
Leading contenders for a possible replacement include Vice President Kamala Harris, California Governor Gavin Newsom and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
But Biden’s resignation may not improve Republicans’ chances, Haley warned. According to him, the replacement will be younger, sharper and more charismatic.

Despite this, Haley called for all politicians over the age of 75 to undergo a mental fitness test.
She said Washington is “full of older people” and voters need to know “who is up to the challenge and who is not.”
Biden’s campaign did not immediately respond to Haley’s comments, but spokesman Ammar Moussa told The Journal: ““To the millions of Nikki Haley supporters who are tired of Donald Trump and his MAGA allies constantly attacking them, driving moderates and independents out of the party, and repeatedly refusing to accept the results of the 2024 election: you have a home in President Biden’s coalition.”
